|Born on the island of Oahu, Hawaii; Carlos spent his childhood in Whitmore Village. It was there Carlos learned the importance of family, community, hard work, and the connection, and responsibility we all have to nature, and the vital role they all play in our everyday lives. Due to the lack of jobs, affordable housing, and rising cost of living, Carlos' parents made the decision to relocate to the mainland. After moving from one end of the country to the other, they finally settled in Northeast Indiana. He attended New Haven High School. He graduated in 2003 and attended IPFW while working two jobs where he planned to major in Mechanical Engineering. The opportunity to go into business with his father in 2007 was a key factor in his decision to not complete his degree. For 12 years 808 Tile has provided high quality service to customers in NE Indiana, while contributing positively to the local economy. Carlos' experiences leading up to and as a business owner have provided him with the insight and perspective to represent his community. While he has always been a keen observer of the political process, running for office has never been part of the plan. Recent events, however, have made it clear that if we want to see progress, we need to act. Carlos is part of a larger community that feels under represented, so he is ready to fill that role for this community and others like it. Carlos will not accept any corporate PAC money and will rally against corruption.
- End Corruption- We will get money out of politics and make sure we are representing the interest of the people and not corporations. Lawmakers should not be profiting off of the backs of the American working people.
- Medicare For All- We will establish a single payer system, negotiate lower drug costs all while encouraging preventive care.
- Green New Deal- We will work towards alternative/renewable energy, reducing emissions, create new jobs, and lead the way on climate change.
Carlos Marcano is passionate about healthcare, education, agriculture, and infrastructure. He wants to get special interests out of politics as they are very self serving and not beneficial for the citizens. He believes healthcare is a human right and that in our great country, everyone should have healthcare. Too many Americans are uninsured or their premiums and deductibles are so high, they cannot even use their insurance. He recognizes the value of our public education system and is appalled at the lack of support and funding. Schools are closing, teachers are not being supported, and unions do not have the same bargaining power they once possessed. Teachers have the great responsibility of shaping the future of our country and that is why they deserve more support and higher wages. Carlos also supports the idea of free state colleges and trade schools. Growing up in Hawaii next to pineapple fields, Carlos is very in tune to agriculture and its importance to our economy. Farmers need more support and less regulation. Northeast Indiana is full of wonderful, experienced farmers and we need to do whatever we can for them. Infrastructure is another important topic for Carlos. He knows we need to invest in our municipalities to make sure they are up to date and efficient. Also, ensure we have safe drinking water by rebuilding our water filtration systems not only to handle organic contamination but also man made, synthetic pollution, chemicals and foreign debris.
