|I've lived in my home in the 4th District since I purchased it 26 years ago. I was married & raised my children who are grown and graduated from Transy and Bellarmine University. Most recently, I’ve been a small business owner, contributing to local business and development owning a lawn maintenance and landscaping business the past 8 years. Before that, I was the Director of HR for what was the largest landscaping company in Central KY, Hillenmeyer Landscaping and concurrently served as Marketing Manager and OSHA Safety Officer. I worked at Ky Housing Corporation, tasked with increasing home ownership among low-income and underrepresented communities, across the state. In addition, I worked Lexmark, in their Latin America Division. I oversaw operations of Service and Support in12 Latin America countries.
Being in my home for 26 years has helped me keep my finger on the pulse of the 4th District and it is why I am proudly endorsed by all of our Public Safety workers (Fraternal Order of Police, Lexington Professional Firefighters, etc) All candidates answered the same questions and I was identified as the candidate that will not only listen and be responsive to the needs of the residents of Lexington, but I sincerely care about the issues in hand.- My endorsement by Public Safety officials means I will be receptive to an open dialogue that contributes to decreasing crime and helping them (Fire, 911 operators, Corrections and Police) be more effective and efficient, while still being open and transparent. We also need to remember, our homicide rate consists of 30% domestic violence victims and 30% juvenile offenders. Because of this, our city is in dire need of mental health services, youth engagement, crisis intervention, re-entry programs, etc. Reducing crime is not just supporting Police, partnerships are needed to fill the gaps where our officers and agencies cannot affect immediate change on their own. We can have both prevention and crime solving, the solution is NOT either or.
- - Affordable Housing – Rent in areas of Lexington, according to a recent Herald Leader article, has increased as much as 35%. Families struggle to have wages keep up with the increased cost of renting. While many of us think of homeownership as ideal, many families stuggle to just make rent and put food on the table. There isn't just one answer as far as infill vs. expansion. One thing is certain, solutions mus tbe well researched and intentional. City/County services are already strained, increasing the number of homes or the area of land services comes at a cost. At a time when we struggle to service our existing areas, budgeting must be taken into account, property taxesdon't contirbute towards these added costs.
- Accessibility, Openness and Transparency -: I am the only candidate that has made my contact information available and has responded to absolutely every inquiry from all constituents. I have personally come out to meet and greet all 4th District residents from all walks of life. I have lived in the same home in the 4th District for the last 26 years. I have had my finger on the pulse of issues affecting the 4th and Lexington as a whole for quite some time. Nothing is more personal to me than this area I call home. I will always be Open, Accessible and Transparent. Please reach out to me with any compliment or concern you may have. We are a team and progress can only happen when we work together.
