Campaign Finance Ballotpedia.png

School board candidates in Arizona were not required to file a campaign finance report if they did not raise or spend more than $500. If they planned to stay under this threshold, they were permitted to file an exemption statement. This rendered them exempt from all other campaign finance reporting, provided they did not exceed the $500 threshold. Otherwise, candidates were not required to file any report until they raised or spent more than the threshold limit. At that point, they had to file a Statement of Organization within five business days from when the threshold was reached. The pre-general campaign finance report was due November 4, 2016. All campaign finance filing was handled by the Arizona Secretary of State.[3]

2014

Hodge provided the following statement on her campaign website:

I have been a member of our community for more than 35 years. As a child, I attended several schools in the Tempe Elementary School District, and graduated from Tempe High. Furthermore I am proud to have raised my two wonderful sons, Jevin and Jazin, in the same school district. I also strive to be a proactive citizen of Tempe. I have served as the President of multiple parent teacher organizations, as the Parental Liaison for the Tempe Ladmo Boys and Girls Club, and as a board member of the Hope's Crossing Foundation. In addtion [sic], I have been an active member of several policy recommendation, site advisory, and financial advisory boards for the Tempe Union High School District.

I seek to be an advocate and representative for all stakeholders in our district. That is why I am running the "YOU MATTER" Campaign because every person plays a vital role in building a strong, healthy, safe community:

  • Students Matter: Everyone deserves an opportunity to a quality education.
  • Parents Matter: Parental engagement provides a springboard for success in the lives of our students.
  • Teachers Matter: Teachers are our communities’ greatest resources and deserve our support.
  • Every community member Matters: Our continued success as a nation depends on educating our youth.[5]
