Today is Bog Day ! Yes, there really is such a thing and its a day to celebrate the brilliance of bogs. I spend a lot of my working life in bogs!
Whether they are blanket bogs, raised bogs or the fabulously named quaking bogs, they are all fragile habitats formed over thousands of years. They are highly sensitive and threatened habitats, but they play a crucial role in mitigating climate change as they store carbon and help to regulate water flow.
In short, bogs are brilliant!
