Azula is the Princess of the Fire Nation, the daughter of Fire Lord Ozai, and the younger sister[5] of Prince Zuko. Considered a firebending prodigy, upon her brother's exile she sets out to secure her position as heir to the Fire Nation throne.[4]

Personality[]

Azula is intensely driven, a reflection of her prodigious firebending talents and relentless perfectionism. She demonstrates a much more manipulative and calculating personality compared to her brother, and upon his exile from the Fire Nation becomes determined to prove herself to her father, stopping at nothing to secure her position as his heir.[4][6]

Trivia[]

  • The creators of the live-action series made a conscious decision to include Azula more within Season One than she appeared in the animated series, intending to balance out the story.[7] They also wanted to provide more context for Azula's family dynamic with her brother and father, making the first season "a little bit richer and a little bit deeper in terms of character storylines".[8]
