This article is about the character in the The Reckoning of Roku. For the character in the TTRPG, see Dalisay (airbender).

Dalisay was a scholar and Ember Island native who was formerly the tutor and girlfriend of Princess Zeisan. Dalisay was selected by Prince Sozin along with Kozaru to undertake a secret mission to a remote island to attempt to uncover the secret to enhanced bending.[3]

History[]

Born on Ember Island, Dalisay rose up the ranks from the servant class thanks to her great intelligence.[3] Her reputation ultimately earned her the position of science tutor to Zeisan.[2][3] Before long, the two became lovers, and Zeisan openly praised her girlfriend's abilities to whoever listened at court.[3] Together with the princess, Dalisay attended the celebration at the royal palace after the announcement of Roku's Avatarhood in 66 BG.[2] Over the next months, Zeisan and Dalisay broke up. Afterward, the scholar entered Sozin's service.[3]

Dalisay subsequently accompanied Sozin and Kozaru on a pirate ship, travelling undercover to a disputed island. The prince did not tell the others the true purpose of their journey. To spend the time, the prince and his companions played Pai Sho. When opposing Dalisay, Sozin tested her abilities and personality by introducing deliberate faults into his playstyle. Much to his disappointment, she easily recognized the faults, but still allowed Sozin to win in order to not embarrass her superior.[3]

Soon after, the ship happened upon the strange, isolated island they had sought. Dalisay accompanied Sozin and Kozaru ashore. There, the group searched for a village about which Sozin had read, only to chance upon two Earth Kingdom soldiers. The Fire Nationals immediately attacked, with Dalisay and Kozaru killing one and Sozin the other. To avoid a political fallout, Sozin then ordered the group to return to the pirate ship as he tried to figure out a way to claim the island for the Fire Nation.[3]

Abilities[]

According to Sozin, Dalisay was "the smartest person he knew". His viewpoint was shared by Zeisan who repeatedly praised her as being a highly intelligent and capable individual. Among other subjects, Dalisay was skilled in the art of steel production.[3]

She was also a decent fighter with the rope dart.[2][3]

Trivia[]

  • "Dalisay" means "pure" in Filipino.[4]
