The taco experts behind Vaquero Taquero closed down its food truck on East 43rd Street and Duval streets as of this weekend. The relatively recent restaurant on 104 East 31st Street in north campus remains open.

Co-owners and brothers Miguel and Daniel Cobos, known for offering skillfully made tacos like al pastor straight from the trompo to pickley nopales to cheese-laden quesadilla tacos, are selling the truck.

With the shutter, Vaquero Taquero’s East 31st Street brick-and-mortar’s new hours are from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Miguel Cobos told Eater he plans on developing the patio area at the restaurant.

Co-owners Daniel and Miguel Cobos opened Vaquero as a downtown taco cart, which grew into the Hyde Park food truck in 2017. They expanded with the full-on restaurant in the north campus area earlier this May. They’re both from Monterrey, Mexico, and the Rio Grande Valley, so they really know their tacos.
