Spanish Tapas Restaurant Bullfight Closes Suddenly

Bullfight, the Spanish tapas restaurant from chef Shawn Cirkiel and parent company Parkside Projects, is now closed. The last day of service in Hyde Park was last night, Tuesday, June 5.

However, Cirkiel is holding onto the 4807 Airport Boulevard space, turning it into a “concept more in line with our neighborhood and community,” according to the Facebook post. Helping out with this unnamed restaurant is an unnamed partner as well, set to open in the fall. Read the full shutter note below.

The future plans for Bullfight’s space, which opened in September 2015, sounds awfully like another casual neighborhood restaurant which seems to be the current trend in Austin (see: Sour Duck Market, Hank’s, Better Half, the forthcoming Mignette from Olamaie, etc., etc.).

The Facebook post noted that Bullfight’s staff will be relocated to Parkside Projects’ other restaurants, which include downtown restaurant Parkside, downtown Neapolitan pizzeria Backspace, Bryker Woods Italian restaurant Olive & June, and downtown/Rosedale juice spot Jugo. It also operates two event spaces: 800 Congress and 7co (the former LaV restaurant space on East 7th Street). Parkside is also expanding with a location inside the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
