Tinned fish can go such a long way — have gorgeous sardines on their own on crusty bread with Maldon salt and a squeeze of lemon, folded into rice and pasta, sauteed and fried, or as bite-sized tapas with fire-roasted tomatoes and pieces of cheese. The small parcels of seafood are not only delicious but packed with protein and nutrients. A single tin of tuna can include about 20 grams of protein, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Across restaurants and markets in Atlanta, you’ll find sardines, mackerel, pulpo, and salmon canned with olive oil, tomatoes, or even black squid ink. Here are the best places to score tinned fish throughout the city.
