Downtown Chamblee Gains a Taproom and Micro Food Hall Next Spring

A combination taproom and micro food hall is opening in historic downtown Chamblee next spring.

Owned by Jeff Kimmel and David Heymann, Chamblee Tap and Market is located across the street from the new city hall in Chamblee and will feature a taproom with 20 taps serving both beer and wine, four food stalls, and a coffee shop.

A current layout of the floor plan calls for an L-shaped bar, along with seating at tables running the length of stalls in the the food hall. More seating is expected outside on a covered and open-air patio.

Heymann tells Eater he and Kimmel closed on the property earlier this spring and are currently working on the final design plans and the variance process with the city. But the pair have narrowed down the stalls they would like to eventually see in the food hall when it opens next year.

Here’s what the food stalls at Chamblee Tap and Market could potentially serve:

“We have not started conversations with potential tenants yet, but want to offer as much variety as possible,” Heymann says.

In May, the Chamblee City Council voted unanimously to allow taprooms to operate downtown without the need to brew, ferment, or distill on site. Previous city code outlawed such taprooms in downtown Chamblee.

With the code now updated, taprooms like Chamblee Tap and Market are allowed to operate within an area bordering Peachtree Boulevard to the northwest to Chamblee Dunwoody Road to the southwest to east of Peachtree Road.

The Distillery of Modern Art opened on Irvindale Way in Chamblee this summer near the Chamblee MARTA station in a 15,000-square-foot building housing a distillery, tasting room and bar serving cocktails, art exhibition spaces, and a private events area.
