A Song used during the events leading to the final Phase 1 boss battle for Ar tonelico: Melody of Elemia, and also in a boss battle late in Phase 2 for the same game.
EXEC_PURGER/., also known by its original Japanese name EXEC_PAJA/., is a Hymmnos Extract that was crafted about 500 years before the start of the first game. When Sung, it allows a Reyvateil to shut down an executing Song Magic program that is in her line of sight. This is achieved by cutting off the program's Symphonic Power supply. EXEC_PURGER/.'s effects are limited to Hymmnos Words (programs utilizing the EXEC_HYMME/. framework, like Songs crafted in a Cosmosphere) and Flip-Flop Conversion processes. Additionally, creatures created through Song Magic are simply weakened rather than destroyed.
The Hymn Crystal containing EXEC_PURGER/. utilizes a single-use license key. This means that only a single Reyvateil can Download the Song; after the Download is complete, the Hymn Crystal is destroyed.
History[]
During the First and Second Eras, there were several installations dedicated to researching Song Magic located on the Wings of Horus. EXEC_PURGER/. was developed to allow the researchers to terminate experimental Song Magic that threatened to become too destructive.
Following Mir's Rebellion in 3420 AD, Shurelia outlawed any and all research into Wave Science, including the development of new Song Magic. A Hymn Crystal containing EXEC_PURGER/. was left in one research installation, the Singing Hill, located on the Left Wing of Horus. In 3770 AD, while under attack from Mir's viruses, Shurelia tasked Lyner with finding the Hymn Crystal on the Wings of Horus, as she knew of its existence but not its precise location. Lyner and his party eventually recovered it from the dilapidated Singing Hill. Depending on the player's choice, the Song was Downloaded into either Misha or Aurica; in both cases, it was used to prevent ELMA-DS from escaping into the Tower's Binary Field and rendering it invulnerable to the party's attacks.
Some time before 3429 AD, a second Hymn Crystal containing EXEC_PURGER/. was brought to Metafalss. It was used by the 19th Maiden, Illusha, in Metafalss' war for independence against Neo Elemia.

EXEC_PURGER/. has an SH-Wave flow demand of 2,800 SHmag/s and an average spectrum demand of 2.4x10^5 Hz[1]. Considering that a typical Reyvateil can achieve a maximum SH-Wave flow rate of 40,000 SHmag/s with a maximum FFT spectrum of 5.28x10^11 Hz[2], EXEC_PURGER/. is not a difficult Song to Sing.

The Purger is the first Hymmnos you will hear after several minutes of beginning the game, and its true way of use and meaning are explained after using it. There are two Purgers, the [#Misha Extracting] one that is included in this CD, and the [#Aurica Extracting] one that is included in the [Side Red]. However, the two have the same origin, these are songs crafted from the Hymn Crystal [Purger].
The Hymn Crystal is like a Flash Memory where the Hymmnos is recorded, however, the sounds themselves of the song aren't recorded in it. Inside the Crystal, there are only the emotions of the person that crafted that song. When a Reyvateil downloads that Hymmnos, she ends receiving the same emotions as the person that crafted that song, and crafts a new song out from these emotions.
Both Purgers songs carry the same emotions upon their respective Downloads, but there is a difference in how Misha and Aurica feel about that song. But, and of course, that doesn't change in anything the actual effects or effectiveness of the song. To simplify it, the songs called Hymmnos change only in how the Reyvateil feels and reacts to these feelings. Certainly, please do a comparison between the differences in Aurica's and Misha's sensibility, if you wish.

Feelings Contained in This Song[]
The Sleeping Princess that Brings Disaster, such is the nickname I was bestowed with.
I call upon abnormal creatures that no one would think can exist upon this world,
At times they become demons, at times they become specters,
But when I wake up, I become a town girl like any you could find anywhere.
As such things only happened within my dreams.
If the nightmares that were born within these dreams just remained as nightmares, no problems would have come from it.
However, I was not allowed such a blessing,
As the alternate persona of mine that was born from the nightmares became real that instant and appeared upon this world.
While I still remain asleep, the nightmares continue existing in reality.
And when the nightmare becomes reality, the reality itself becomes a false world.

The princess that will send to sleep the calamities
In the game, the objective of the singing of the Purger is for support in the combat. In essence, is not only for combat support, since it originally wasn't a song crafted for battle. Its actual role is disconnecting abnormal things from the world. Even if we left a detailed explanation in the game, we can explain in here the lyrics, and the feelings that are carried in the Purger songs.
The Purger was actually crafted for situations where very dangerous Song Magic were crafted, and it was used to dispel the effects of these dangerous songs. Simply put, it's a Break Command for the Song Magics. About the lyrics of this song, it talks about a priestess sealing the demons that appeared from inside her heart. The spontaneous discharge of the Song Magics are responsibility of the Reyvateils. And the lyrics also tell it as a warning.
By the way, even if it has the same basic components as Song Magic, they are ineffective against the Purger. You will see in the game how its effects can turn the battles in favor of the singer's party.
