The Year of the Bob Is Still Here

Kendall Jenner’s love affair with blonde hair is over. For her 29th birthday, she did the big chop: a flipped brunette bob. A bob for fall? Groundbreaking. It’s the one hairstyle that everyone has a love-hate relationship with. Why? While it might be a chic look one day, the next, not so much … if you don’t know how to maintain it, that is. Which is probably why we always see celebrities with the hairstyle; they have the time (and stylists) to tend to it daily. Jenner was already wearing shorter haircuts this year, but she announced the haircut topless in seductive black-and-white editorial images on her Instagram by Mert Alas. The only correct caption, of course, was simply the haircut emoji, because how else do you announce a new cut in the middle of fall?

Her cut is slightly flipped and messy, adding some edge to the often sleek style. The model doesn’t usually take as many risks as her sisters regarding hair. Kylie Jenner has tried almost every color under the sun, and Kim Kardashian has had braided styles and platinum-blonde looks that broke the internet. Kendall’s recent blonde era was short-lived lived, although it was very fitting for her, from Marilyn Monroe–esque face-shaping curls to slicked-back styles.

Zendaya’s bob walked last season so Kendall’s could attempt to run. As for your fall bob? Good luck maintaining it.
