Stitching at Amy's!

I went to Amy's yesterday to stitch and shop and eat and chat! We had a lot of fun. The time always flies! It was so nice to get away with friends. Here is a pic of all the great stash I got...

Stash from Amy

I got a fat 1/2 of 40 ct. Light Examplar by Lakeside Linens (I just couldn't resist it)! I'm such a sucker for LL linens, especially in such a pretty color! I also got the newest LHN "Colonial Women" and BBD "The Simple Things" along with some threads and my favorite needles. Lastly, I got the one LHN Saltbox thread pack that I was missing. I want to stitch all four on one piece of fabric. I decided to start it yesterday while I was at Amy's.

Blessed thread packs start

I'm stitching it on the 40 ct. Light Examplar linen I got. I'm really loving it so far! :) Well, nothing else going on here. Looking forward to the end of the school year at the end of this week. We will probably be going down to Florida next week if Matthew is feeling better (he caught a bad cold, but I think is on the mend). Well, going to get back to stitching! Write soon!

Beneath the Sunlit Sky Finished!

I got it finished up last night while listening to The DaVinci Code (I think I may be the last person on earth to read it)! My dh's flight was canceled, so I stayed up way too late again stitching. :) He's on his way home now though. I'll pick him up after the kids get out of school. Anyway, here are some pics of the finished design...

A little more BtSS

I stitched a little on "Beneath the Sunlit Sky" this weekend...

BBD Beneath the Sunlit Sky as of 5/26/09

Not the greatest picture - this fabric is hard to photograph and I was lazy about ironing! :) Hope you all had a nice Memorial Weekend. The kids and I just hung out - didn't do much at all. We're all looking forward to dh coming home tomorrow. Thank you for all the kind comments for dh's family. They are much appreciated!

BtSS Start!

I got started on "Beneath the Sunlit Sky" Last night. I'm loving it so far. :)

BBD Beneath the Sunlit Sky

I had a comment in my last post about when I find the time to stitch. Well, I stitch anytime I can. When my son is napping, while the kids are playing, while we are watching T.V. and at night when they're sleeping (I usually stay up until 10-11 pm). I just find time here and there, I fit it in whenever I can. It's not always easy, but for me it's therapy! It keeps me sane! :)

Well my dh had to go out of town today. He received some sad news yesterday. His cousin's son passed away from cancer. He was only 17. It's just so sad. I can only imagine what his aunt's and cousin's family must be going through. I'm so glad he was able to go up there and be there for them in whatever way he can. Just another reminder of how precious life is and not to take it for granted! Off to hug my kids again! Write later!

My New Start Will Be....

Blackbird Designs "Beneath the Sunlit Sky." An oldie, but a goodie. :) I have had this pattern kitted ever since it came out (almost two years ago) and while searching for something new to stitch I came across it. I decided to use different fabric though. I had it kitted with Platinum Belfast and I decided to go with 32 ct. Purely Primitive by Silkweaver instead. I actually started a tiny bit last night, but had to rip it out because I started in the wrong spot. You'd think after all these years I would know where to start stitching! :)

I just love the colors in this design. I can tell I'm going to have a lot of fun stitching this one! Well, I'm going to get stitching while Matthew is taking a nap! Write soon!

P.S. Thank you for all your very kind comments on Miss Lila! :)

Miss Lila's House Finished!

I got her finished up today! I'm so glad it's done! I'm glad I didn't set her aside to start something else.

Another One

This is another one I'm thinking about stitching. It's Blackbird Designs "Maude Eloise 1891."

BBD Maude Eloise

I had actually bought this pattern a long time ago and then sold it. I bought it again recently - it's funny how my tastes go through phases. I think seeing this finish by Cristina made me realize how much I like it! The linen I'm thinking of using is 32 ct. French Vanilla (I think) by R&R (it's the fabric that was in my Family Sampler kit).

Well, not really any stitching today either. I have been working on Miss Lila's House a little bit, but don't have much to show. Well, I'd better start getting dinner ready. Write soon!

Not Much Stitching....

I thought I would stitch all weekend, but I ended up cleaning instead. I'm always amazed at how cluttered things get! I was very close to starting "The Plantation Sampler" last night. I got all the threads together and on thread drops. They are so pretty!

The Plantation Sampler

But I figured I'd better try to get Miss Lila's House finished first. I already have way too many things started! Hopefully I can get it finished up sometime this week.

My dh is now home again and the kids are flocked around him watching the NBA playoffs. They love their daddy! :) I'm glad he's home too, I really missed him (even though he is like a fourth child sometimes)! Well, nothing else going on. Going to try to get some stitching done! Write soon!

I have been working on Miss Lila's House for the past couple of days. I got the bottom part finished up this morning. I would love to get this one finished soon!

Nothing really going on here. Just hanging out with the kids. Dh is off fishing and golfing with friends this weekend. I hope to get lots of stitching done! :)

Hand-Dyed Linen

I added some hand-dyed linen to my Etsy Shop!

I plan to add more (as soon as I get more linen). :)

Fraternal Twins

I didn't mean to confuse anyone. The Ruth Bacheler that I'm working on now is actually the original one before I switched to silks. I changed a lot of the colors, so it's not exactly the same, which is why I was calling it Ruthie #3. I have been stitching on it for the past couple of days - I'm still liking it! In fact I got as much done as the silk one. Here they are together....

I'm still thinking about what I want to do with the silk one. Sell it? Save it? I don't know! :) My dh just shook his head today when I showed them to him. He thinks I'm crazy, but he also admited that he liked the new better too! Well, my ds is wanting to use the computer! Write soon!

Ruth Bacheler #3

I worked on Ruthie quite a bit this weekend. I'm so happy with how it it's looking. Really, the only major change is one of the threads is a teal green instead of a darkish-bright green and another of the threads is more yellow and gives a little more contrast in the yellow/greens. I think it makes all the difference though. Another reason I like it, is the linen is a smaller count, which makes the design about an inch smaller on the sides. I'm thinking when I coffee-dyed the first linen I washed and dried it a couple of times, whereas with the other linen I only washed and dried it once. Anyway, here are a couple of progress pics...

I have also been listening to "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. It's so good - I can't stop listening!

Well, I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day. My kids and dh were so sweet - they brought me cards and coffee in the morning, although they could have let me sleep in just a tiny bit longer! My dh said they were too excited - they just couldn't wait! :)

Third Time's a Charm??

Welcome to the loony bin once again! I was going through my linen and getting it organized and came across my old Ruth Bacheler wip. I couldn't stop looking at it and I realized I really liked it. I was seriously thinking of picking it back up and working on it again. But wait, I started it over, on silk. Shouldn't I be happy with that?? I should, but of course - fickle me, I'm not. I really like Anne's finish over at Tempus Fugit. I love the colors on her sampler. I don't know why they are so different than mine - dye lots, lighting? Who knows, but I knew I liked it. Well, Katrina also liked Anne's sampler and she came up with a conversion of her own by looking at the colors Anne used. I once again borrowed Katrina's conversion (she so nice to share). She has a great eye for color! So I ripped some colors from my old sampler last night and put in the new colors today. I'm very happy with how it's turning out.

I also worked on Miss Lila's House, which is my sane project. I have not had any problems with this one at all. :)

More Lila

I worked on Miss Lila's House last night while watching The History Channel. That's one fascinating channel! Did you know that the Island of Molokai was actually a much bigger island and half of it broke away? That is why there are huge sea cliffs on one side of the island. I had no idea and I lived in Hawaii for over two years! Anyway, here is my progress pic....

Hope you all have a wonderful day! Write later! :)

P.S. I'd really like some of these today!

More Ruthie!

I was just going to finish the border and then I couldn't stop. I stitched two more rows after that. I had to fudge the third border a little - don't look too close. :)

Weekend Stitching

I started "Miss Lila's House" Friday night. I decided to go with R&R 40 ct. Ink Spot Black. I'm loving it so far! I stitched this while listening to "The Lace Reader." It was a really good book! I highly recommend it!

Miss Lila's House

Saturday and Sunday I worked on "Ruth Bacheler." I finished the first two alphabet rows. The second row is satin stitches over three threads. I had to rip out a couple of letters trying to figure out how to get it right. It's still not exactly right, but I didn't want to rip anymore. I'm hoping my 2nd border will match up on the other end!

I plan on finishing up the second border (hoping it matches) and then maybe I'll work on "Miss Lila's House" again today after running a few errands! Write later! :)
