Also known as Northern White-crowned Shrike. There is also a Southern White-crowned Shrike that is now (depending on the authority) called simply White-crowned Shrike. They used to be considered a single species, called White-crowned Shrike. Ha! This is not confusing at all.
The namesake white rump is visible in flight. The Southern White-crowned Shrike looks nearly the same, except it has a gray rump instead.

Trees with white frozen crowns on my favourite rural road during the morning sun. The trees were still covered by the frozen mist of the day before. But at the end of the afternoon all was melted. Purmerland, 2017.
Again, I would like to thank everyone for your support, views, faves and comments!
WISH YOU ALL A Happy Blue MONDAY and a marvellous new week
( still catching up slowly)

Κυανόλευκη = White and blue .............have been symbolic Greek colours since antiquity with historic significance;their adoption for the new Greek state was a natural continuation from previous uses.
In ancient Greece they were connected with goddess Athena and were used in Alexander the Great's army banners, while Greeks abroad were often recognized by their white clothes with blue details. (Wikipedia)
