Ein Maneki - Neko,die mit links winkt,gehört in jedes Schaufenster
und soll Kunden und Besucher anlocken.Sollte die Katze ihre
rechte Pfote bewegen,steht dies als klassischer Glücksbringer,
der Fremden in jedem Lebensbereich als kleine Aufmerksamkeit
überreicht werden kann.Vor Restaurants stehen die Katzen meist,
um Gäste auf sich aufmerksam zu machen und hinein zu locken.
There have been a lot of heather beetles this year. These insects feed on the heather and strip the plants bare. This has resulted in the plants turning a reddish brown colour in some areas of the north Yorkshire moors. Unfortunately this has led to less food being available for the red grouse and the numbers have decreased considerably this year.

From autumn gold to winter white. The best of winter from a photographic point of view (bad pun!) though there's little sunshine to make it all glitter. 'Thundersnow' is a new addition to our vocabulary, and to our experience too. So - I was looking at a lovely green summer scene from Fyvie loch. And with the help of Photoshop and the iPad app Vinci I painted it with all the colours I could squeeze in ;o)
