Human Rights Policy

Evergreen has the interests and wellbeing of its employees as its focus in pledging to carry out the business philosophy of "creating profits, caring for employees and giving back to the society" and this is Evergreen's guarantee for its stakeholders. Evergreen is committed to promoting a working environment where all workers are treated with respect and dignity in accordance with the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the UN Global Compact (UNGC), the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and the ILO Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006).

The Company's core policies and procedures in respect of employment are centered around the principles of Employment law occupational health & safety and personal data protection regulations. Evergreen considers it to be a duty to uphold the dignity and respect of all of our employees. Evergreen's commitment to these laws, are as follows;

    Evergreen complies with occupational health & safety regulations and continues to promote and train employees on health & safety awareness to ensure that the work environment remains safe at all times and that the risk of any occupational accidents in the workplace is minimal. This promotes a safe working environment for employees and also improves employee's wellbeing whilst at work.

    Evergreen stores and processes personal data in accordance with the data protection laws. The Company's employees are trained in these principles and are committed to ensuring that all data is kept in accordance with the data protection laws.

    In addition to employing domestic land and sea employees, Evergreen Marine also recruits maritime staffs from different nationalities such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Tuvalu, etc., encompassing various religious beliefs including Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism, and Christianity.   2. Human Rights at Sea
    The Evergreen Marine always follows the 2006 Maritime Labor Convention, the company's human rights policy and requirement of Collective Bargaining Agreement which strictly to guarantee all seafarers' working and personal rights. Moreover, Evergreen and all fleets passed the registry countries and classification societies' periodic audit and hold the company's DOC and fleets' SMC as per ISM regulations to ensure "human safety, ship safety, cargo safety" policy actively.
  3. Supplier Code of Conduct
    Evergreen incorporates the UN SDGs into procurement and demonstrates corporate social responsibility in procurement management. In addition to price and quality, before dealing business with suppliers, Evergreen will assess environmental and social performance of suppliers, and avoid doing business with those suppliers who fail to fulfill corporate social responsibility. Evergreen has always been encouraging suppliers to fulfill their corporate social responsibility and requiring suppliers to comply with international human rights / labor rights, regulatory requirements, and anti-corruption so as to upgrade their enterprise image and gain our support.
