I was recently browsing through a Country Living roundup of the best Walmart fall fashion finds and was pleasantly surprised to see so many on-trend pieces at shockingly low prices (like this very of-the-moment cropped trench coat). But what truly stopped my scroll was this perfect striped ruffle neck midi dress for a cool $34. Said scroll may or may not have been at the tail end of a casual work meeting (I was obviously scrolling for research, wink, wink) and being the generous anti-gatekeeper that I am, had to show off my find to our Managing Editor Amy Mitchell who promptly ordered it in maroon.
A few days later, my navy striped dress arrived and I could not believe the quality, which reminded me a lot of the quintessentially British brand Boden or dare I say, an air of the classic cool-girl mainstay, Tuckernuck.
I had assumed the polka dots were printed over the stripes, but instead they turned out to be raised and embroidered which makes it feel more high-quality than the price tag. The weight is perfect and the stretchy waist band makes it super comfortable. A ruffle collar? Darting in the back? Pockets! This is not your mom's basic shirt dress.
As my eyes were widening with the wow-factor of this Walmart find, I immediately texted my 6 best friends from college who responded with a mix of heart-eye emojis, "added to cart!," "ORDERED" and "Adorable. Ordering!" So far it's been a hit.
Go ahead and order this dress before it sells out and enjoy the compliments as they start rolling in. The only thing that tastes better than a pumpkin spice latte is the sweet gratification of replying with a knowing sigh, "Thanks. It's Walmart."
