I’m glad to have found this thread! I love sewing but don’t have much time for it. I do mostly 40s/50s clothes for myself, skirts for my sister, and an occasional quilt when I feel up to it.

Here is one of the dresses I finished somewhat recently .

Beautiful! I'd love to make one for myself. I just haven't found the right fabric yet. Incidentally, does anyone have favorite online fabric shops? I've been trying to find rayon in particular, in a middle of the road price.

I could never get myself to buy anything online . I have to feel the fabric!

If you're looking for vintage patterns oldpatterns.com has hundreds of them!

Hello! Anyone working on projects for the holidays? I am working on some doll outfits as gifts, and attempting to copy April Cornell's Avonlea dress (twice) , with a few adjustments. A tad complicated without a pattern, but the design is pretty loose and forgiving. Plus, someone gifted me a lot of that exact fabric, and I'd had my eye on this dress for a while. The plan is to make the sleeves full long sleeves and shorten the skirt a tad, for one, and remove the neckline ruffle and replace with a boat neck for the second.
