4 years ago we built a city coop in Hutchinson and I loved having all my girls and the babies they hatched. I used to be on the group a lot at that time. 17 months ago we moved so we rehomed them (they where later almost all killed at the new home) and sold everything. I am really missing them...
Thank you! I will have to try to go back and read some! It sure sounds like you had a busy day, I know here in Hutchinson the weather was great, I hope it was for you as well!
I just wanted to stop in and say HELLO. I seem to have trouble keeping up with this and miss a month or two at a time before I come back.
We have been busy with our yorkie puppy who is now 12 weeks old. My chicks are now 18 weeks old and are their mom helped them blend in well with the big...
oh sorry to hear about Baby Spice, I have never had to deal with that issue and not sure what I would do in that case. I Hope your FIL feels better now that you assured him that it was not his fault!
Those little chickens sure are fierce when broody, I have 3 out of our 9 broody, then 2 are...
He was a pretty boy! He went to his new home this week, he went alone, and 7 other chicks went to my aunt and uncles! I kept 3 hens~
We are picking him up on the 29th! We had a Morkie but he died last year and even though we rescued a baby pomeranian my hubby is missing his buddy and wants...
So we are getting another puppy, a yorkie, at the end of the month. I want to do this right with the chickens this time. so should I introduce them super early as soon as we get him while the chickens are free-ranging?
So all my extra chicks have now found their permanent homes. One their first night at my aunt/uncles they flew the coop, since I guess they did not have it covered, but they where able to catch them all...I need to remember that they are not mine to worry about anymore!
So now we have 9...
I was so sure this chick was a girl, the legs are skinny (compared to my males) and the comb/waddle is still mostly yellow in color.
I am wondering if those are saddle feathers in the back? or maybe she just has some cool feathers?
They are Wyandotte mixes, some had correct comb, these have...
Is this chick looking like it has the start of saddle feathers? I sure hope not. They just turned 9 weeks old
The comb is more yellow than rd. They are Wyandotte mixes.
I have some wyandotte mixes and I was wondering, if at 9 weeks this could still be a pullet as I first thought. compared to her brother who is for sure a male there is a HUGE difference!
They where 8 weeks old on Friday/Saturday
I am keeping only 3 so I need to kind of be somewhat sure of...
Is there anyone with extra chicks to sell located near Kansas City or Knob Noster, MO?A
A cousin lost 18 chickens to her neighbors dog pack while on vacation this week (they broke into the coop) and the remaining 6 are injured. They filled a sheriff report and the neighbor will pay for...
Thanks!
He looks very austrolorp. If you have a buff orp rooster I would guess he is the father. I don't see Wyandotte traits in him in this picture...no yellow to his legs and no wyandotte comb.
Thank you!
I am needing some advice..
My chickens are pretty crowded right now, waiting on moving the chicks out (8 weeks old now) since my aunt it taking their time building a coop. The mom hen and the aunt had been sharing the raising the last 4 weeks, but this past week the aunt has gone like psycho...
