An application management plug-in is a component for managing Kaspersky applications via the Administration MMC Console. The management plug-in is included in all Kaspersky applications that are managed through Kaspersky Security Center.
The administration plug-in allows to:
- Create and edit application policies and tasks.
- Get information from client devices about tasks, events and application statistics.
If the application management plug-in is not installed on a device with the Administration Console, when trying to open the plug-in through the console, an error message will appear: “The application management plug-in is not installed. Do you want to install the application management plug-in?”.
How to install a management plug-in
A management plug-ins should be installed manually on each device with the Kaspersky Security Center Administration Console.
- Download the latest plug-in version for an application managed via Kaspersky Security Center.
- Close the Kaspersky Security Center Administration Console if it’s open.
- Run the klcfginst installation file and follow the installation wizard guides.
- Make sure the plug-in appears on the list of all the management plug-ins installed in the Administration Server using the guides below.
How to view the management plug-ins list and look up their versions
- Open Kaspersky Security Center.
- Open the context menu of the Administration Server and select Properties.
- Go to Advanced → Details of application management plug-ins installed.
If you manage a single Administration Server using multiple Administration Consoles, information about the plug-ins installed may vary. This is because plug-ins are installed manually on each device with the Administration Console.
How to remove a management plug-in
- Close the Administration Console from which the plug-in should be removed.
- Open the Windows system registry.
To do so, type regedit.exe in the Windows search bar and press Enter on the keyboard. - Open the registry branch:

- For 64-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KasperskyLab\Components\28\Plugins
All management plug-ins installed to the Administration Console are listed in the branch. The name of the managed application is specified in the DisplayName parameter.
- Select the section which corresponds to the plug-in you would like to remove.
- Open the UninstallString parameter and copy its value.
- Open the command prompt as administrator and paste the copied value.

Features of working with a management plug-in
- The plug-in version must not be lower than the version of the managed application.
If you upgrade a Kaspersky application, also update the administration plug-in of that application on all devices where it’s installed. - If you remove the Administration Console, all the installed administration plug-ins will also be deleted. After reinstalling the Administration Console, install the required management plug-ins again.
- If you installed an administration plug-in for a new application version and opened a policy created in a previous plug-in version, a window asking to confirm the use of Kaspersky Security Network will appear. Confirm your consent for the new application version.
