It's that time of year peoples.....Laissez les bons temps rouler!!

OMGOSH....please forgive me for taking so long to write a new post peoples!! It seems I'm having some technical difficulties in getting my routine down with my new job. I do LOVE it though. Meeting so many wonderful folks if only for a short time span and knowing that each day will be a new group of folks to meet. I have met some characters too, let me tell ya!!!

If you have been coming to sit under the old Southern ooak tree to visit then you know in my last post I told y'all about going to Hobby Lobby (ohhhh I could live there I think...hehehe) and buying some new paints for some Mardi gras ornies. Well....I got them painted and they turned out really cute and that's not just me saying that now....really....it's not.

This one is for Diana to keep once I change the tree to it's new Holiday. It's a fish with the words painted   "Fish River Grill".

See.....cute, ri iiight?? I've had several customer tell me that they loved the tree and the painted ornaments. That makes it all worth while and makes my heart smile too. I really enjoyed painting them and decided that since I'm at work during the day and Diana likes to keep her Christmas tree up all year at the grill that I would change it into a Holiday tree for the rest of the year. Each hand painted ornie has some of my Mardi Gras beads that I have caught over the years at the awesome parades we have down here during this time of year. I also left a few glass ornaments not painted and just added beads inside of them. Pretty effect by just keeping some simple.

Fish River Grill #2 official Mardi Gras tree!! I loved that she used purple and green colors for it for Christmas time because those ornaments can stay on it all year. Besides the ornies I painted I also added some Mardi Gras beads, some happy/sad face garland, some beaded mask necklaces, paper mask, a pair of musical Mardi Gras glasses, a pretty purple sparkly mask that my sweet friend Karen made and a Fleur de Lis tree topper. See the two little reindeer? Diana loves her reindeer and I wanted to keep them out all year too so they will be decorated as well...BAHAHAHAHA!!!! Don't they look ready to "PARTY" with their purple feather boas?

This hand painted glass ornie was done to add to the wreath.

Here's the wreath I made. I love making wreaths and I'm going to make a new one for each Holiday I change the tree to. I hung it on the register desk at the grill so that as folks walk in they can see we are in the Mardi Gras spirit to "Laissez les bons temps rouler". (Let the good times roll)

If you're in the area come see us at Fish River Grill #2. I promise you will LOVE the food and will not go home hungry!!!

Until next time.....remember...GET UP AND DO SOMETHING peoples!!!

A muse posting

I'm so freakin excited and nervous today peoples. I start a new part time job this morning. I KNOW I can do this but it's always exciting and a bit nerve racking to begin something new, yes? It's not a big job but it's working somewhere that I've never worked before. The restaurant business. Noooo, goofy me won't be waitressing. I can just imagine all the messed up orders if I DID that. HEHEHE!!! I'm going to be a hostess at Fish River Grill #2 during the lunch period. Monday through Friday for now and once the Chazman gets out of school for the summer then if all goes well then I'll be working more hours which will get me towards some goals I have set to meet this year. THIS is going to be MY year!!!!

I plan on working on the Mardi Gras glass ornies when I get home. I went to Hobby Lobby Saturday and bought some new paints. Purples, blues, greens and golds...the perfect Mardi Gras colors. I also bought some items to make a wreath for the door too.

It's time to get ready to head to work....that sounds and feels so good to say. I hope that you have an awesome Monday and remember this year's theme here under the old Southern ooak tree....get up and DO SOMETHING peoples!!!

Day 5 of my January 30 Day Challenge.

Well.....it's day 5 of my January challenge and ummmm, well....I ummmm OKAY OKAY, I slipped up yesterday. I had white bread.......WAHHHHH!!! At least it it wasn't chocolate though...hehe.

It also wasn't this many hot dogs either BAHAHAHA but I must admit that my guilt of eating just one afterwards it might as well have been this many. Geez....perhaps this challenge is to rewire your brain into feeling guilty when you slip. That wouldn't surprise me because giving me the "guilt trip" works every single time peoples. I'm not going to fret though and I'm not going to cry. I'm simply going to try harder today and hopefully the Chazman can still stay strong enough NOT to tell me just where he hide that CHOCOLATE!!

Until next time........do SOMETHING,

Day 4 of the January Challenge

Day Four of my January 30 day challenge. If this is your first visit under the old Southern ooak tree then go here to see just what in the heck I'm talkin bout peoples. So far....soooo good. I didn't post the last two days because well I've been able to stick to it.

Yes, yes...that even means staying away from the chocolate..hehe!!! I figured I had better post today so that you would know that I WAS doing it and hadn't let it fall by the wayside. I'm going to stick to this and do a challenge a month for the whole year. Want to join me? I would LOVE the company and to see comments as to how you're doing.

Until next time........do SOMETHING,

Mardi Gras is coming soon!!

CHO CO me Boos.....I'm so excited that it's almost time for Mardi Gras!! Mardi Gras is officially February 17th but we all know that all the FUN and festivities start before that day. Our parades here in Gulf Shores actually begin this month...the first being on the 17th. I LOVE LOVE LOVE a parade and one where they throw beads and other items are THE best. If you're a local then here's the link to this years parade schedule.

I think that I'm going to put up my small table tree in the front room or maybe even in the family room if I can keep one tiny, mischievous cat away from it...hehe and decorate it for Mardi Gras. That means that I need to get to painting some glass ornies to put on the tree. I've been doodling some ideas and remember....these are just doodles...^_^

I will use greens, golds, purples and blues with these and of course glitter. Ya just have to have glitter to make it a true Mardi Gras bling bling. I'm thinking of doing a few ornies with just beads from past parades inside. Perhaps use some of the beads as garland for the tree too. Owww weeee.....I need to get started.

Until next time...........Do SOMETHING,
Regi

Try something new for 30 days..make a year of it

Peoples, it's a NEW year and that means everyone (well...almost everyone) will have made those new year resolutions. Did YOU? Yep, those resolutions that are made and meant with the greatest intentions but don't normally make it past two or three days for most. (if even that long...Bahaha) A friend (thank you so much Joan by the way) sent me this video and asked if I would watch it and see if I would be interested in doing a challenge with her this month. At first I was, well, do I really want to do this, will I stick with it, will it be something I can even do? WOW....once I watched the video I was ready to give it a try. Thirty days is not really that long of time and time already seems to fly now that I'm getting older but something that was mentioned in the video about doing a challenge makes the month more meaningful because you actually remember doing "something".  I so had to try this challenge. I just HAD to!!!

For our January challenge we are going to cut out/delete/do without and hopefully kick our bad food habits so that after this month it will just be natural to do without these things. That's what I'm planning anyways. Here's what we are going to delete from our diets.

NO (that means Nada peoples)
Candy
Cakes
Chips
White bread
fast foods
chocolate
ice cream

Ok I know some of y'all are saying "NO WAY REGI...can't live without my chocolate" and I totally and completely understand and you can always make your challenge list be different. It's just the fact that you do "something". For this month though make it a HEALTHY challenge.

I'm going to be posting daily about this so there will be two post on some days as I plan on keeping my muse's whispering on a separate post. I mean y'all know what a DIVA she can be so I know she will NOT like sharing a post...hehe I think posting is a good thing as it will help me keep to my challenge and make me accountable. I will even (gulp) admit if I did "slip" a bit on a certain day and of course I don't plan on it but HEY...I'm human and chocolate IS on our list.

I think that my ONE that is 1 peoples new years resolution is going to be sticking to the 30 day challenge and not just for January. I want to do this for the whole year. A new challenge for each month and perhaps carry a few of them over into other months especially if they are positive/good change challenges. Sometimes those 30 days need to become "each and every day" living and not just seen as a challenge. What a journal this is going to make, yes?

I already know what I want to do next month and it's one that was mentioned in the video, the one of taking a photo each and every day. I think I will make it a black & white photo challenge as well. It will be nice to have photos to remember a certain day and have it to look back on and reflect and remember something that happened on that day that caught my eye or interest. Life is so short and we sometimes let the simple but important tiny things slip by. I think this challenge will help me keep my eyes "open" and see something that I would otherwise have missed.

Perhaps you would like to do this along with me? That would be AWESOME!! You don't even have to do a post if you don't want to, just make a comment on my daily post of how your challenge is doing for that day. I promise that all of them will be at least one of these: healthy, fun, interesting, soul searching, reaching out or pushing yourself to just do "something". This time next year we can all look back at what this year was all about and have something in writing to actually remember it by. Anything helping this old gal to remember is a good thing, believe me!! I so promise though that there will be no hiking up Kilimanjaro...I do know my limitations peoples. ^_^

Until next time.......do SOMETHING,
Regi
