実は・・・ In Fact...

この像の元になる直接の画像は実はなく、様々な写真を合成しながら若きマザーテレサのイメージを表現しようとしている。

In fact, there is no direct image of this statue, so I compose young Mother Teresa with various photos at her young age.

静謐（せいひつ） Tranquilness

木陰でひっそりと咲く。静謐という言葉がぴったりだ。

In the shade of a tree the flower is in silent bloom. The word of "tranquilness" is fit to it.

アグネスからマザーテレサへ From Agnesë to Mother Teresa

マケドニアの首都スコーピエで生まれた、アグネス・ゴンザ・ボヤジュがマザー・テレサの道を歩み始めるその瞬間を表現したい。

I want to express the moment that Agnesë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, born in Skopje, Macedonia, started living as Mother Teresa.

これがマザーテレサ？ Is this Mother Teresa?

そう、これはまだ誰も見たことがない、若き日のマザーテレサなのだ。

So, this is young Mother Teresa, whom people have never seen before.

マザーテレサ生誕100年を来年迎える Next year the 100th anniversary of Mother Teresa will come.

来年、マザーテレサ生誕１００周年を迎える。そこで、来年の展覧会では、マザーテレサを題材に作品を出品する予定。まずは、小品から準備を始める。

Next year the 100th anniversary of Mother Teresa will come, so I will show my works about her at our exhibition. Now I started making a small one.

銀座での展覧会 An exhibition at Ginza, in Tokyo

銀座ではじめての展覧会。今日から18日まで。場所は銀座8丁目のYYギャラリーhttp://www.fugu-naruto.com/garo/eigyo.html#map。石彫展Ⅰと題して、石の作品ばかりを展示している。

Now I'm showing my works at Ginza, in Tokyo, from today to 18th. Address is the following;

瞑想 Meditation

何か静けさを感じる。

I feel something peaceful.

羂索（けんじゃく） Kenjyaku

羂索（けんじゃく）と呼ばれる鞭が輪郭を見せ始めた。

　
The outline of a whip, called Kenjyaku appears.

隙間 An opening

剣と胸の間のわずかな隙間を彫る。剣が折れないように支えを残す。

I sculpt a subtle opening between the sword and the breast, remaining a support not to break the sword.

脇 The side

脇を彫る。ノミが回らない彫りづらい場所。

I sculpt the side, but it is the difficult space to reach by chisels.

背中 The back

背中の微妙な凹凸を彫っていく。
I sculpt the subtle unevenness of the back.

腹筋 The abdominal muscles

腹筋を彫る。

I sculpt the abdominal muscles.

解剖学 Anatomy

筋肉や骨格の位置に注意しながら、腕を絞り込んでいく。

Taking care of the position of muscles and a frame, I sculpt the arm more.

細部へ Into details.

羂索（けんじゃく）と呼ばれる鞭の位置を少しずつ確定していく。

I gradually decide the position of a whip, called Kenjyaku.

内側 The inside

ノミが回りきらない部分を彫っていく。難しい部分だ。

The part which chisels can't reach. It is difficult.

みなぎる Full of power

不動明王の力がみなぎっている感じが出てきた。

Fudo is getting full of power.

衣服を彫る Sculpting the clothes.

固定する部分を残して、腰の衣服を彫っていく。

Leaving the part for fixing the body, I sculpt the rest of the clothes around the waist.

かなりの腕っ節 What a very strong man!

力こぶが盛り上がっている。

The beiceps are standing out.

アクロバット Acrobat

突起がいかに役に立っているかがわかる。

It shows how useful the projections are.

指 Fingers

足と手の指が出揃った。後はよりシャープにしていく。

All fingers of the hands and the foot appear. Now I will sharpen them more.

足 Foot

足を彫り始めた。

I started sculpting the foot.

両手 Both hands.

手の握りをより克明に彫る。

I sculpt grasping hands in detail.

握る Grasping

握る手と腕を彫っていく。

I sculpt the grasping hand and arm.

後姿 The back

下半身も彫り始めた。

I started sculpting the lower half of the body.

座禅 Zen meditation

まるで座禅。

Just like Zen meditation.

貫通 Bore

わずかだが、剣と体の間の隙間を作ることができた。少しずつ拡大していく。

Small, but a bore could be made between the sword and the body. I will make it broad.

一歩ずつ Step by step

全体の輪郭が見えてきた。徐々に細部を作っていく。

The total outline appears. I gradually make each part in deatil.

羂索（けんじゃく） Whip

羂索（けんじゃく）と呼ばれる鞭の部分も彫り始めた。　

I started sculpting a whip, called Kenjyaku.

横顔 Profile

岩石の中から不動明王が出てくる感じ。

It gives the impression that Fudo appears from a rock.

顔 Face

顔を彫り始めた。慎重さが求められる。

I started sculpting the face. It needs carefulness.

誕生日 Ｂirthday

今日４２歳の誕生日を迎えた。こうして彫刻をしていることを幸せに思う。

Today I got 42 years old. Sculpting like this, so I'm happy.

腕のリアリティ Reality of arms

腕のリアリティに迫る。

I'm getting close to the reality of arms.

隆起 Muscles

筋肉の陰影が目立つようになってきた。

Shadows of muscles appears gradually.

再スタート Restart

北海道へのお見舞いから帰ってきて、制作を再開。それにしても関東は暑い。

After visiting Hokkaido, I restarted sculpting. Even so, it is too hot in this area.

現代のダビデ像 A modern David

東京の台場に１８ｍのガンダムが出現。まるで現代のダビデ像だ。

Gundam, a robot of the famous animation film, stands at Daiba, in Tokyo, 18m in height, as if a Modern David.

こんな感じ・・・ Like this way...

突起のおかげでしっかりと固定できる。

By the projection this marble can be fixed tightly.

計画性 Plan

上部の突起の有用性が生きてくる。

The projection of the top shows its usefulness.

腕 Arm

剣を持つ腕の輪郭が徐々に出てきた。

The arm which has the sword gradually appears.

剣 Sword

今回最も難しい剣の部分から彫り始めている。

This time I started sculpting the sword which is the most difficult part.

謎の突起 Mystery projections

上部の突起は、その面を下にしたときの支えとなる。

These projecting parts of the top are supports as the bottom.　

不動明王 Fudo

展覧会も終了し、不動明王の制作に取り掛かった。

After the exhibition, I started sculpting Fudo, a Buddhist saint.

展覧会より １ From the exhibition Part 1

これは「まどろむ」というタイトル。補聴器メーカーに展示するために制作。

The title is "Madoromu"(it literally means taking a nap). This is made for a hearing aid company.

展覧会のお知らせ

東京都美術館の新構造展でセナの胸像を展示する。今回は石膏原型ばかり６体。期間は６月１２日から２２日。興味のある人はご連絡を。

３ヶ月前・・・ Three months ago...

そして、三ヵ月後・・・。

And three months later...

マリア像完成！ Ｉ finished a Madonna statue.

マリア像が完成した。これでマリア像は２体目。３体目はあるのかな？

I finished a Madonna statue. This is the second one, will I make the third one?

５月１日 1st May

今日５月１日は、アイルトン・セナ命日にあたる。はや１５年の歳月が流れた。マリア像を手がけながら、祈りを捧げたい。

Today 1st May is the memotial day of the late Ayrton Senna. Already 15 years has passed. Making Madonna statue, I will pray for him.

世界最小？The smallest one of the world?

一見大きく見えるが、彼女の唇は幅が５ｍｍぐらいしかない。もしかして大理石のマリア像としては世界最小？

She looks big, but her lips are about 5mm in width. Is this the smallest Madonna statue of the world in mable?

微調整 Tuning in exactly.

彫る作業のすべてを終えた。ひたすら微調整。

I finished all sculpting process. Now I only tune in exactly.
