Mixed Media Monday - Vintage Hodge Podge Canvas

Hi Paper Wings fans! Dana here today sharing a canvas that I created with the March Nesting Components Mixed Media Kit. This kit contains one of my favorite Clip Art Sheets and a fun mix of embellishments that are perfect for building up textured layers. The Pearlescent Watercolor Paint Set was really fun to work with! My canvas has a fantastic shimmer that really catches the light.

This canvas came together using basic techniques. I was inspired to create this canvas in a style similar to the great Anna Dabrowska.

I started by gluing paper, tag pieces and washi tape from the kit randomly to my canvas. (Don't think too much about placement during this process!) I added a piece of lace from my stash and a couple of pieces of Gold Foil Border (a NEW item from the Store).

I then glued down larger and more textured embellishments like flowers, leaves, a burlap tag, chipboard pieces (past kit), wood buttons (past kit), rhinestones (past kit), metal pieces (personal stash) and a light bulb (personal stash).

To neutralize my palette I covered the canvas with a coat of gesso.

Next, I added my clip art image and more flowers, a metal crown, an enameled tag, chipboard (past kit), sequins (personal stash), and beads (personal stash). I covered the the new embellishments with a layer of gesso, being careful not to cover up the clip art image.

Once the gesso was dry I painted the canvas with the Pearlescent Watercolor Paint Set from the kit.

I added rub-ons from past kits to the enameled tag and the clip art image.

I stamped the wooden buttons with the Crowns Clear Stamp Set and added a gorgeous Hand Dyed Ribbon bow.

I finished the canvas by wrapping the edge with the gorgeous butterfly print canvas ribbon from the kit.

Scrapbook Saturday

Hello Paper Wings Fans!  Erica here with you today and I am so excited to be sharing a layout with you!  But first I want to thank everyone who linked up to our March Challenge.  Once again we were blown away with all the fabulous projects you shared with us!  This month our randomly chosen winner is #6. Angeline Choo!  Congrats Angeline your project is beautiful!  Please email Erica at [email protected] to claim your prize.

I had a lot of fun creating this layout and had fun getting a little messy with some Lindy's Stamp Gang!  I started out with  plain white cardstock to create my layout.  I used the Prairie Wildflowers from Lindy's Stamp Gang and sprayed my non-stick craft sheet with all three of the sprays that come in the set.  I made sure to spray it all over my craft mat and a lot of it!  I then took my white cardstock and placed it on top of my craft mat gently pressing down onto the cardstock to pick up the color.  Next I carefully lifted it up off the craft mat and let some of the ink run off before setting the cardstock right side up to dry.  I love how it turned out and the pink in this Sidekick set is beautiful!  Once my cardstock was dry I used some black gesso and a stencil to add the dots to the corners of my layout and stamped out a couple images using the Art Textures stamp set. I used alot of product from the March Mixed Media Kit to build up my layers in this layout.  The ATC sized paper pack that comes in this months kit worked out perfect to build up layers and I also used a piece to create a tag.  The printed text layer was created by taking a piece of white cardstock and using the Text Melange stamp set to stamp out the script.  I am a big fan of creating my own background!  I also pulled out some left over Cosmo Cricket brads from the Creative Girl Nesting Components kit!  We still have one of these kits available in the shop and for the rest of March you can pick it up for 25% off using the promo code MADNESS at checkout!  Here is a look at my completed layout!

Tutorial Tuesday - Packaging Tape Image Transfers

Hi Paper Wings Productions fans! Dana Tatar here today sharing a canvas album I created using some of my favorite techniques. I think that working with wet mediums and canvas is especially fun!

I drew inspiration from several of my favorite James Bond films when deciding on images and text for my pages. I used a fun image transfer technique to create transparent embellishments from the Paper Wings Productions Clip Art Sheets for my album pages that I'm excited to share with you!

To prepare the album pages, mist the canvas ATCs with water to moisten the surface of the canvas for maximum color absorption. Next, lightly mist the wet canvas ATCs with several colors of mist. Add colorful patterns to each ATC using stencils and paint. Embellish each stenciled design with dimensional paint and set aside to dry.

Cut images from the Clip Art Sheets. Place clip art images face down onto the sticky side of clear packaging tape. Press down firmly to seal.

Gently score the back of the clip art images with scissors and spray liberally with water. Let soak.

Gently rub the paper from the masking tape resulting in transparent images. Cut the images from the tape and stitch onto the canvas ATCs.

The transparent images allow the mist and paint on the background of the pages to shine through!

Use a label maker to print text for each ATC.

Tie the canvas ATCs together with a piece of Gypsy Hand Dyed Ribbon.

To cover the stitching I used to attach the clip art image transfers to the album, I stamped onto pieces of muslin with some of my favorite Background Stamps and glued them to the back of each canvas page with Liquid Stitch.

Feature Friday- Lyrics Cling Stamp

*****To join our March Challenge: CELEBRATE, CLICK HERE*****

Hello everyone! It's Amber here today to share two cards I created with Paper Wings Productions Lyrics Cling Stamp Set for this weeks Feature Friday post. I used the large cling set that has both of the stamps but you can also find two smaller stamp sets  in the shop HERE, one has the phonograph image and the other has the walking boots. For the first card I used the phonograph image with its matching sentiment. I think this is my favorite one, love the sentiment and I had fun going outside of my comfort zone by using a cheetah patterned paper and matching it with a bright pink.

For the second card I used the walking boots image with its matching sentiment. This one is fun and different because of the leopard printed patterned paper. I didn't go too crazy with this one, I used a neutral colored  ink and ribbon to go along with the patterned paper.

Thanks for visiting today and don't forget we would love to see what you make with Paper Wings Productions Stamps so add your projects to our Flickr Group, to Pinterest, or leave a comment with a link to your project. You can also check out our Facebook Page and You Tube Page for daily inspiration.
