Nights of Azure Wiki
Demon

A Demon is a foreign lifeform spawned from the Nightlord in the Nights of Azure series.

History[]

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. Read at your own discretion.

Each Demon is a manifestation of one or more aspects of nature, leading them to be far less prone to change than humans. As they are spawned of the Nightlord, they possess Blue Blood just as Fiends do. However, dissimilar to fiends, Demons are not mindless monsters. In fact, many have shown themselves capable of teamwork, passion, romance, sorrow, loneliness, and other aspects commonly associated with human intelligence and empathy.

The primary differences between humans and Demons are twofold. Firstly, a Demon craves blood vampirically, and the purer the blood, the better. The blood of a priestess is equivalent in appeal to a Demon as delicious candy is to a human, while the blood of a Saint is comparable to a fine, aged wine. That being said, Demons also do enjoy normal sweets, particularly chocolate.

Secondly, the lifespan of a Demon is immense, and some have been confirmed to live for thousands of years. This disparity alone is enough to greatly exacerbate the differences between the two species, along with causing misunderstandings. Though it often ends in tragedy, some human-Demon romances have been known to arise over the years, so it can be reasoned that their differences are not so great that they are fully incompatible.
