Valacar was the twentieth King of Gondor and the son of Rómendacil II, whom he succeeded in TA 1366.
Biography[]
Valacar was born in TA 1194.
His accession brought great unrest to Gondor, for he was sent by his father as an ambassador to Rhovanion to acquaint himself with the Northmen. On this mission he married Vidumavi, the daughter of Vidugavia, the 'King' of Rhovanion. He also gain the complete and utter loyalty of some Rhovanion who became middle men nobles in Gondor this was because due to his brilliant command skill and willingness to get on the frontlines with them and acting like and equal. Because the Northmen were Middle Men, Some conservative Dúnedain in Gondor especially in the south were afraid that this marriage might spoil the Númenórean blood of its kings.
His wife died early as was common with the Northmen but she lived a very long life by northmen standards for a century and around one two decades plus she also bore him a son, Eldacar his future successor and another child at least.
When Valacar grew old, Some of the coastal provinces rebelled. In TA 1432, Valacar's death turned the rebellion into a civil war known as the Kin-strife. This lasted for fifteen years, until Eldacar secured the throne.
Valacar had ruled Gondor for sixty-six years, and was succeeded by Eldacar in TA 1432.
