Redesigning my Blog

I have been hard at work redesigning my blog.  I wanted an easier way to click on certain labels, and I think I am really liking the results.

Just a little pretty photo for now.

Just a little check in.

I have been pretty busy with life for the last several months, so I have not kept up with my blog.  I have however started taking pictures again, so I hope to start blogging more soon.  Right now I am looking at changing my blog again to be more friendly for photos.  Here are some of my latest.

Oh, yeah he's sticking his tongue out!!  Hehe, I'll be back soon!

Lots to Update!

I must start off saying that I have not stitched a stitch!!!  I have not felt good at all for the last couple of weeks, so that is my excuse.  I do however have some pics to show you.  I tried to change my blog around to the new dynamic view, but so many things didn't work that I had to change it back.  Things were lost, like my signature.  I will have to go figure out where that is and then how I saved it in the first place.  Yep, I know I should have backed up.  I probably won't remember next time I go playing around again either.

I actually purchased a couple more cross stitch patterns from Mystic Stitch.  They had a sale going on buy three, get three free plus free shipping.  I bought several church scenes and cottage scenes.  I told myself that I would not start on them until Hummingbird is done.

Here are some pretty fall pics.  We even had some flowers still blooming.

Here are some pics of ma's new horse Champ and my aunt's horse Jag.  Champ is the one with white down the side of the nose.  They sent Trav back because they thought he was too mean.  Of course I bonded with him, but since he isn't mine he left.  Champ has since put on quite a few pounds.   He looks quite healthy now.  For some reason, they keep racking show horses pretty slim I guess.  He is Trav's half brother, but a lot calmer and nicer to the folks.

I am actually weaving, or I have a warp ready, a scarf.  It is a beautiful blue, with some colors mixed in, and I am hoping that I will be able to weave it this weekend.  We'll see how I feel.

Hope everyone is doing well and doing lots on all their crafts.
Happy Stitching!

FOUND IT!!

Camera cord has been found!! I have no idea why I put it in my armoire, but I did.  But, I still have not been stitching.  My baby Sorca face started swelling last week and we rushed him to the emergency vet.  The vet said he didn't think he was bit by a snake, thankfully, probably a spider or something, so they gave him a big dose of Benadryl and a steroid shot.  He pulled through those okay and his face was better by morning.  He was drinking water like crazy, so abnormal for him, and back to the regular vet he went.  They said Sorca has Lymes Disease and is now on meds for that.  I can't believe it since he rarely has ticks on him.  I think this summer I have pulled off four ticks, and only two were attached.  Granted he did bring in a couple that I found crawling around, but I flushed those.  Luckily, he is not showing any symptoms at all, and we wouldn't have known if we hadn't taken him to the vets to see what was going on.  The vet said that they have found so many dogs with Lymes this summer that it is unbelievable.

I did start a little weaving over the weekend, so I will have to drag my camera out and take some pics.  Until then, happy stitching.

Camera Cord, Lost!!

I have not updated my blog, not that I have stitched much, because I lost my camera cord again!!  Hopefully I will soon be able to find it and add a few little pictures.  Unfortunately, I have been sick for a couple of weeks so I have not done much, but hopefully soon I will start to feel better.

Little Update

Wow, I am back in a week like I said!!  Here are the little updates.  I actually pulled Hummingbird out and stitched two more flowers on the side borders!! I wanted to stitch more, but my head started hurting real bad and I had to stop stitching.  I think that is why I stopped stitching for so long, but maybe if I just ease back into it, and not sit all day stitching, then I won't have that problem again.  I also have pics of the middle as it stands now, not fully beaded, just to picture how beautiful it will be.

Next up is my little start on Polar Mandala.  It isn't much, but I stitched five little rows until my eyes needed a rest.  I may need to go check my eyes out before I continue stitching this small.  I think I need some new glasses.

I found something entirely new that one day I hope to maybe stitch.  It is ribbon embroidery by Di van Niekerk.  I found this and started drooling.  I finally found a store that will order anything from her website, so I am thrilled.  I have a couple of her books coming and have been considering a kit.  I believe I am not going to cross stitch anything else until my Hummingbird is finished, but as always my plans change.  Hopefully I will have finished four more flowers on Hummingbird by next week, and maybe even stitched the four little hummingbirds on the side borders.

Happy Stitching!!

New Stitching Starts

So, I will start off with my stitching first.  I know that not everyone is interested in weaving, so I will save that for last.

My first stitches, probably of this whole year, lol.  I started on Mirabilia's Petal Fairy.  I wanted something that might seem a little quick, and I had this Polstitches 28ct Cashel Linen in Dusky Rose in my fabric collection.  It is a light brown with pinky splotches.  I stitched this up in two days, and that was after frogging all of one symbol because I misread it!  She is going to be so pretty!

Next up I started gridding this morning to have the fabric ready.  This is PTP Dusk 28ct Luguna.  Since I am gridding, can you guess what I am attempting to stitch?  Geez, I can't believe I am going to try this but my ma wants the Chatelaine Polar Mandala with the center over one!  Even though I loved everything else, I just didn't like the over two as much and she said that she wanted the over one center also.  I told her I could take four years to stitch it, if we live past Dec. 21 he he, and she said "I don't care." I have most of the DMC colors, which I think are in the middle, so I can at least start this on Monday when the class starts.  I believe that I am going to also switch the top and bottom windows and put the polar bears on top instead of the foxes.

So, onto weaving.  I was thinking the other day how great it would be if I could actually weave a piece and then cross stitch on it.  It is something I may try in the future.  I can just imagine using some hand dyed fabric, or hand spun, and after weaving, using that for stitching something special!

These are my three first towels that I wove on the Baby Wolf.  The draft I used came out of Weaver's Craft, April/May 2000, the Yellow Towel.  The warp was an ecru 5/2 cotton.  I used a green, yellow, and rose weft of 5/2 cotton.  I really love how they came out after I washed them.  I think the detail is so pretty when you look at them up close.  I hemmed them on my sewing machine, and though  they aren't the nicest hems, for my first try I am pretty ecstatic.

Next up is my HansenCrafts minispinner that I have never posted.  I have the Wenge, and it is beautiful.  I should be trying to spin everyday, but lately I just have not had the time.  Since I have an electric one, hopefully ma will learn to use it and she will spin, then I will use the handspun for weaving.  I know I have to practice everyday to learn, but I hope to get the hang of it soon.  It comes with some fiber already spun on it, ready for you to start spinning.

Hopefully I will have some updates on something  next week.  Maybe a start on the Chatelaine Polar Mandala.

Happy Stitching!!

It's Been Awhile!

I have been so bad not posting anything for so many months.  Let me say in my defense that I still do not have any good internet at the house, so I just have not been able to post pictures or even write.  And I do not have any pictures today, but I think I have figured out a way to transfer them to my laptop after adjusting them, and then upload them using another connection.  I will have to give it a try next week.

I have finished weaving my first three towels!! I am pretty happy with them, but I still need to hem them and then I will post some pics.  I also have a scrapbooking kit coming so I can make something for my dad.  It was mailed, so I should be receiving it anytime.

I have started cross stitching again!! I took all my floss and fibers out this past weekend and reorganized everything and bought a few beads for a couple patterns today.  I am going to start off with a couple small ones just to have a finished project so I can find my mojo again.  My Hummingbird doesn't have to much left except the flowers down the sides and the bottom, and I don't know why I can't seem to finish that little bit up.   I am going to try to set a goal to finish the stitching it at least by the end of the year and then start on the beading.  My Herbularius is stopped and done.  Without the internet, I rarely went to the groups to download the monthly updates, and I just waited on Martina to email she was closing the groups and if you needed to download you had a couple of days left, and then I would go rush and download the class.  I missed it last time and now I am missing several months, and after some consideration, I may just finish the middle and that's it instead of paying again.  That's what happens when I don't log in or pay attention!  It is my fault, and I will learn my lesson, which reminds me I think I have another class to download.

I have also gone vegan this month, just to try to see if I feel better.  Food always seems to affect me so crazy, and I seem to jump from one thing to another to see if there are days where I don't get dizzy or sick.  I do seem to be doing better, so I think we are going to stick with this for about three months to see if some things correct themselves.  I know I felt so good raw, but I just can't seem to do that for more than a month.  I am also trying to be a gluten free vegan, so that is a little harder.

Sorca is doing excellent.  I have never seen him look hateful at anything before, but my mom has a horse now, Trav, and I walk out there during the week to chat with him.   On the weekends, they move to my aunt's pasture behind us.  I lean on the fence and he stands there and listens, or closes his eyes while my baby Sorca watches from the front door.  Sorca doesn't like him at all, but ma says it is because he believes that Trav takes his mom away.  Sorca should know better because I tell him he always comes first for me.  I mean who else would wake up during the night and recover him with his blanket, lol.

I will try to take some pics and update next week.  You'd think by now that everyone should have high speed internet even if you live in the boonies.  Have you seen the new show Revolution?  That is going to be my favorite new show I do believe.  I started thinking the other day, you think that anyone's trying to tell us something they might know with all these books, shows, etc. like this coming out.  Hmmm.

Happy Stitching or Weaving!

Weaving Pictures!!

I think I have finally been able to get my internet working for a few minutes!!  This is my first warp on my Baby Wolf, a sampler I am weaving following the book Weaving for Beginners by Peggy Osterkamp.  I made a few mistakes, but I fixed them pretty quickly and started on my first project.

When I finished my sampler, I used my warping mill to wind my next warp from the kit I bought from the Yarn Barn for a second sampler.  I LOVE my warping mill, so easy to use, and I am loving the colors I picked.

I took a little break and made some balls from some skeins from another kit I have to practice on.  This is such a pretty color.

Here is my second project using the warp mentioned above.  I love the different patterns that are emerging.  I actually did another yard so I am going to use the extra to weave a little runner for the table beside my bed.  I really love how this is weaving up, I just hope that it stays the same when I finish it.  The sampler I think may make a nice wall hanging.

Have a great weekend!!

Hello!!!

I figure by now I have lost everyone that ever read my blog, but I figured I would stop by to do a quick update.

Lately I have only been learning to weave so no stitching or scrapbooking has been done.  I reorganized my scrapbook room into my new "Loom Room."  I guess I could call it my weaving room, but Loom Room pops out of my mouth everytime, lol.  I still have most of my scrapbooking stuff, but the yarn cones and warping mill, not to mention my loom sitting in the middle of the room, have taken over.  I did take a picture of my Baby Wolf and the first sampler I just finished, but have not uploaded any photos yet.  I used my warping mill for the first time yesterday, and it was a dream!!  I couldn't even take the warp off, I just want to look at it for a couple of days, smile.

At some point I will try to upload some photos, but I am not sure when that will be.  My internet is so spotty at home that I am not sure it will stay connected long enough for a picture to upload.  I so wish I had DSL so I could stay connected longer than a second!  I took all stitching off my lap stands except my Hummingbird Garden, hoping that will get me to finish stitching it.

A Few Pics

Here are just a few pics I took.  The first is my bag of HDF silks for my HAED Sadness of an Angel.  The next is my start on it!!  These are old from the beginning of January, but it was still a start.  I love working with the silks.  I believe it is on 28ct Lugana.

Here are some pics of my baby, Sorca, right when he came home.  I left all the disgusting pics out.  He's pretty much healed now, but his back still looks funny where the scar is.  She didn't sew him up great, and I wasn't real happy about it.

I hope to finally get my Baby Wolf loom soon.  I have had major problems with the shipment.  The freight company was terrible and my first one ended up with a crack in the frame.  The replacement is on its way, so maybe next week I will have my first loom!  By then I will be mixing in some weaving pics with everything else, so I will have to just work harder to keep up with everything.  I did work on my Hummingbird, but didn't take pics, so when I do I will post something.

Hope everyone is having a terrific week.  Happy stitching, or weaving!!

Hello!

Sorry I have been gone so long!! Right now I have no Internet except my iPad, so I can't upload any photos.

Right at the end of last year, Sorca had a mass on the bottom of his gums. He had to have surgery, luckily it was benign, but he lost his two bottom teeth. The vet also took out two other masses, one on his back and the other on his side. I have not been doing much stitching lately, I think everything has just been too much. He is finally doing better, close to normal.

I did start Sadness of an Angel HAED, all in HDF silks. I was so sad and upset when this was going on, I thought it was fitting. I did put it aside and started back on to my Hummingbird Garden. I am going to finish that before I stitch anything else.

I did pick up something else I am going to start, weaving. This came about when I thought about a prayer shawl for Sorca. I couldn't get into crochet or knitting, but came across some weaving sites and now have a loom on it's way. I had many sleepless nights with him, and from that a new direction was born!

I hope to be able to post pics soon, whenever we can fix the Internet problem.
