SHIPPING INFORMATION

First things first, for items shipped directly from our warehouse in sunny Petaluma, California:

Orders placed before 11am (PST) Monday - Friday are almost always* shipped the same day.
Orders placed after 11am (PST) Monday - Friday are almost always* shipped the next business day.
Orders placed on weekends are almost always* shipped Monday.
While the various shipping companies we use (UPS, FedEx, etc.) tend to be reliable with their delivery dates, they do not guarantee them.
When calculating delivery dates, only business days are counted - not holidays & weekends, and not the first day we process & ship your order**.

*We do our best to pack & ship all orders as fast as possible, and occasionally on super-busy days air shipments get first priority while some slower service shipments may have to ship the following day.

Example: an Economy 3-Day Air order placed on Tuesday afternoon (or Wednesday morning before 11am PST) will almost always be processed & shipped on Wednesday, so when figuring the arrival date Thursday counts as "day 1". (If you had asked for Express Next Day Overnight shipping, it would get to you on Thursday.) With 3-Day shipping, the order would arrive on the following Monday (because Friday is "day 2", the weekend does not count, and Monday is "day 3").
In this example, if you really needed your order by Friday, you would have to use 2-day delivery, not 3-day. Phew, if you are confused about that or have a really important deadline, call us and we'll be glad to help you figure out the delivery dates and options!

Also, please note the following:

Not all services are available to every zip code.
For all shipping transit times, we are talking about business days.
If you choose to use the Postal Service and they lose, delay or misplace your package, there will be a 30 day delay before we can replace it while they track it. We prefer other carriers since we can easily locate, trace and resolve problems.
Drop-shipped items, items shipped direct from the manufacturer, may not be shipped as fast as our own lightning fast service. They may require an additional day or two to ship out, depending on the manufacturer.
UPS and Fed Ex will not deliver to Post Office Boxes, only physical addresses.

Fine print / Dimensional weight: In general, shipping costs are based on the total weight of your order, i.e. lightweight stuff costs less than heavy stuff to ship. However, UPS, USPS and Fed-Ex sometimes charge Dimensional Weight for very large, very lightweight packages. This amounts to billing the shipping at what the weight of that large package 'should' be. So, the shipping we quote you is almost always, but sadly not always, the cost you will need to pay for shipping. Added charges by UPS, USPS or Fed-Ex for Dimensional Weight can increase shipping cost at the last minute. In these very infrequent cases we will contact you to sort it out before we ship.

Please Note: Canadian Customs and/or Rural Delivery can add days to shipping transit time.

Canadian Import Duties, Taxes and Brokerage Fees:
The customer is responsible for all Canadian import duties, taxes and brokerage fees. These fees are likely to be charged when your package reaches the Canadian border (these fees are not included in the shipping that we charge you). According to customer feedback, Canadian import duties & taxes seem to run about 7%-14%, but this can vary depending on the product's country of origin. Any items made in the USA will be so specified on your invoice for customs, and thanks to NAFTA these items should be taxed at a lower rate. Brokerage fees depend upon the shipping method (see below).

Priority & First Class Mail International: Especially good for lightweight orders and when time is not critical. According to customer feedback, Canadian import duties, taxes and a flat $10.00 Brokerage fee are now usually assessed to USPS packages. Priority provides tracking information for your shipment whereas First Class does not.

FedEx International Economy: Fast shipping. Duties & taxes are usually charged by Canadian Customs.

FedEx International Priority: Fastest shipping. Duties & taxes are usually charged by Canadian Customs.

Import Restrictions: No flammables can be shipped to Canada. This means no solvent-based gutta! Water-based resist is OK.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS MAY BE CHARGED IMPORT DUTIES AND/OR TAXES BY THEIR COUNTRY'S CUSTOMS OFFICE! These fees will be charged to you when your package arrives (they are not included in the shipping costs that we charge). These fees are the customer's responsibility and are paid to your country's customs office upon receipt of the package. If you are unsure about customs duties and taxes and would like more detailed information, you should contact your local customs office.

Import Restrictions on International Orders:
Due to federal fire regulations, NO FLAMMABLES can be shipped internationally. Unfortunately, this means no solvent based gutta can be shipped. Water based resist is OK.

Currently, the few items marked as "drop-shipped" are only available to customers within the United States and Canada.

If your country is not on either of the two above lists, we are very sorry for any inconvenience, but we are unable to ship orders to you at this time. Our only suggestions for now are that if you have friends or family in the U.S., we can ship to them and they can arrange to get it to you, or perhaps you could consider using a mail & package forwarding agent.

We are continuing to upgrade our website in an effort to make it easier for our international customers. We are also diligently working towards being able to ship to more countries, and will update our site as that becomes possible.

The United States Postal Service offers Ground Advantage and Priority Mail.

Priority Mail transit time is usually about 2-4 days.

Ground Advantage usually takes about 4-7 days.

Ground Advantage usually takes about 14-60 days (The US Post Office seems to put these on a barge or some slow moving ship crewed entirely by sloths!)

A combination service offered by United Parcel Service, Federal Express, and the USPS. UPS/FedEx will pick up the package from Dharma, carry it all the way to your local post office which will make the final delivery. Please note: as these packages are finally delivered by your local mail carrier, customers MUST provide an address that receives mail delivery! (for example a PO Box) The Post Office will not automatically hold the package for you if they do not deliver to your address, it will simply be returned to Dharma.

This service is currently only offered on packages 9 lbs. and under.

Tracking capability for this service is very good.

SmartPost delivery can take up to 2 weeks to get to you and up to 5 weeks longer to PR, Alaska and Hawaii. If you are in a hurry this is not the choice for you! Please contact us if you are on a deadline.

Standard ground service offered by United Parcel Service.

Delivery is guaranteed 2 business days in California. Up to 5 days on the East coast.

This is a newer service offered by Fed-Ex. The transit time is roughly 1-2 days slower than their International Economy Service.

Average transit time for this service is about 5 business days, but that can vary due to your specific location. It could be a few days shorter or it can be a few days longer.

This is a combination service offered by UPS. UPS picks up the package and delivers it, in bulk with other mail to the local mail service in your home country. Your country's mail service will make the final delivery. Please note: rolls of fabric, or other items, longer than 45" can not be shipped by Bulk Air Mail.

The tracking capability for this service is limited.
