I’m almost done with my colossal painting projects, only two walls left to get done. Last week one of my readers asked me how I get projects done so fast. This cracked me up because to me it seems to take forever. So I was planning on writing a response post on how to knock out a job in record speed. But truth be told come Friday evening after dinner I was so worn out I fell asleep on the sofa at 7 o’clock and that was it for the night. Our house is a wreck, the bathrooms could use a scrub, all the sheets need to be changed, the laundry is piled up in the basement, and I’ve been relying on Mr. Handy to help me in the kitchen. Not to mention our neighborhood pizza joint has been getting a little extra business from us the past couple of weeks. So in reality, I have no magical painting techniques; I neglect my family and our household and turn into a crazy painting lady! Blogging has even been put on the back burner the past couple of weeks. Yikes! The only painting tip I have that has really helped me over the years is my “super suit”, a Dickies coverall work suit that apparently gives one ambitious super painting powers and determination! It’s covered in a rainbow of pastels and whites and I don’t think twice about swiping a new color across it.  My sweet son and husband also never complain about helping move the heavy furniture the night before.

So here’s some quick pics of what I’ve been up to…

The study has been doused in a warm buttery yellow transforming this into a cheerful happy space. I was inspired by our guest room to add more yellow around our cottage, it is one of my favorite rooms to be in and photograph.

Here is a shot from the office looking into the sun porch. The blues and yellows have become best buds.

There’s obviously not much styling going on right now. Here we have the entry showing off a fresh coat of white. Bet you never saw that one coming! Grin.

The white continues through the living and dining rooms. I also painted the dining table a silvery blue, but it’s a work in progress. I’d like to add some distressing and stain. More on the dining table to come. When I first finished this paint job, I wasn’t sure if I liked all the white. Can you imagine?! After living with it, I’m loving it, and as I add in more color and texture it is really coming together. It just takes time.

And white has landed in the living room making this space breezy and light.

Well it’s two weeks of back strengthening exercises and Tylenol for me! I’m looking forward to cranking out some Thanksgiving goodies in our freshly painted kitchen. It’s just a coat a paint, but this place is feeling fresh and new-ish! Happy Thanksgiving!
