Cottage Fix details

Hola Cottage Fix Crew! I’m getting back into the swing of things with the cottage decorating and rearranging and project list and such. Earlier today I took a stroll across the internet looking for a dose of inspiration from other cottage style homes and various approaches to get to the heart of that cottage look and feel. Well, the variations in the descriptions of what makes a cottage a cottage were numerous – everything from French Country to vacation homes […]

Cottage Fix- Rustic Hutch

This chippy paint, country style, ever so shabby, rustic hutch is taking up residence in the entryway at cottage fix where our piano once lived. And it’s always a warm welcome for me when I whisk through the front door. Hello cottage fix rustic hutch, nice to meet you. It’s been a while since I shared the inner goings on of our quirky old cottage and all the fun shenanigans we’ve been up to. So a lot around here has […]

Aubusson blue painted hutch

Salutations! How about this lovely shade of Aubusson blue, one of my favorite shades of blue I think. It’s a deep rich blue with just a hint of green. I went back and forth about painting this old vintage hutch of mine. But after I finished dousing the dining room walls in this soft taupe, I thought a shot of color would liven it up. One of my go to furniture painting tricks is to take my Annie Sloan chalk […]

stripping the dining room table

Salutations! For the past year or so I’ve been milling over the idea of purchasing a new natural wood table (when I say new, of course I mean an old rustic beauty that’s new to me). One that has history and would warm up our dining room. One with a natural wood tone and a weathered patina worn proudly like a scar that accompanies a manly man’s tale. Something with a bit of soul and character with the warmth of […]

vintage mantel

Salutations! So what kinds of goodies do you like to look for when you’re out treasure hunting? Is it that perfect weathered patina, or something that you can revive with paint? Do you like to head out with a list and a plan, or casually look? I’m a browser, it drives my honey bonkers! Grin. Sometimes trying to figure out what to do with old pieces is like cracking a code of sorts. To paint or not to paint? Distress […]

silvery sage painted chest

Hola Cottage Fix Crew! Long time no see. It’s been a crazy end of summer around here and even though I’ve been working on a couple of DIY projects, i haven’t had an opportunity to share them with you. So I’m very excited to get back into the swing of things! And today it’s all silvery sage paint with some farmhouse inspired styling. I wanted to give this old vintage chest a freshen up, and I’ve also been trying to […]

vintage bathroom cabinet that Honey redid- love!

Hey guys! Look at what my honey did! I’m so in love, with the bathroom cabinet too! Wink. This is the little cabinet that we took down when we redid the kiddos bathroom a couple years back. I’m fairly certain it’s original to the house since the wall behind it had never been painted. The cabinet was painted yellow and partially covered in the same yellow bird wallpaper that covered most of the old bathroom, including the ceiling. I actually […]

luck, kindness, and pink

Salutations! Ta da, we made it through two weeks of complete family togetherness chocked full of long walks, late meals, movies, and sale shopping. I must admit, it did get a bit hairy there for a minute or so at about a week and a half in. I’m fairly sure that if I asked, I’m the only one that would think so though. The rest of my family was in deep chill mode I’m almost certain. As for me, my […]
