Having won 2 out of 3 grading matches the Monders found themselves placed in Development Division One, which was the second of the VAFA women's competition's five tiers in its inaugural season of 2017. It proved to be a highly competitive league and although Ormond managed 3 wins from 14 matches they still ended up with the wooden spoon. These are still comparatively early days for the organised women's game in Victoria, however, and it would be churlish to read too much into any team's debut performances as things are likely to change both dramatically and often in the coming years.
