Meghan and Julie - Stunning Handmade Hair Accessories

Instagram has become such an amazing social networking place for my own business as well as others. I have met some of the most talented people from all over the world to include Lisa from Meghan & Julie. As soon as I started following Lisa I knew she was something special.

Lisa's spirit and spunk is a lot like my own but the stunning accessories she makes blew me away. More than that I am in constant awe of Lisa's strength and heart. She is a mother to four boys ages 12 to 2. Her two oldest (12 yr & 10 yr) have Autism, her 5 yr old is labeled Developmentally Delayed and her 2 yr old is demonstrating delays.She is such a strong loving presence in her sons lives as well as their advocate but sometimes my heart breaks through my phone for her.

I could only imagine. I only have two girls both of which are healthy in all respects but most days they make me want to rip my hair out. Whatever her trials throughout the day you can always count on seeing a stunning piece posted that was made with love and care as well as a "hi lovelies"!

I could not wait to start back to school shopping this year because my first stop was going to be at Meghan & Julie. From bows, clips, headbands and more Meghan & Julie is like shopping in a candy store. All the colors, glitter and textures are brilliant and perfect executed. Lisa has an amazing eye for color combinations and detail.

Speaking of candy stores, you can get your beautiful hair accessories in scents! That's right, they smell and it is amazing. For our order we chose bubblegum, wild berry, vanilla and coconut. Let's just say the girls could not stop huffing the bows when they arrived..lol It has been a month and everything still smells as wonderful as the day they arrived.

The handmade quality of each item is perfect and holds up well with active little girls. Every piece is secure and the clips I chose stay very well in even my fine haired daughter.

I always try to send customer appreciation photos of handmade items I buy. I know as a business owner myself there is nothing that brightens my day then seeing a happy cheeky little girl wearing something I made and mom telling me how special her daughter feels.

So I sent Lisa some photos and the response was more than I expected. She was so blessed and loved M's pictures so much as asked if M could be the face of Meghan & Julie. What? Wow! Meghan & Julie is growing by leaps and bounds are we are honored to stand beside such a talented lady in her newest business endeavors.

Currently you can find Meghan & Julie on Etsy as well as Instagram. Stop by and check her out, you will not be disappointed.

First Day Of School Cakes {Tradition}

When we were stationed in VA I had the pleasure of meeting and becoming close friends with Sharon of Mama's A Mess. On the first day of school she would make her eldest daughter a cake with the current school grade decorated on it. Watching year after year the progression and changes in her daughter was beautiful. I then decided when the girls started Kindergarten I wanted to bring that first day of school tradition into our home.

So every year since Kindergarten I make a cake, decorate it and then when the girls get home we snap a picture. It has only been a few years since starting the tradition but the girls remember it and plan what flavor of cake and frosting they want well before school starts.

This year with the big moved a week before school started I decided to make it easier on myself and to make mini cupcakes in the shape of this years school grade. Plus I really didn't want and my waistline doesn't need two full double layer cakes in my fridge.

So far I have seen the most change in C but she is the oldest and has had two more years of cakes then M. It is just such a fun tradition and I look forward to it each year just as much as the girls do.
