''What wouldst thou know, my Queen?''
|
- “So warm.”
- ―Pete while sticking to Nick Wilde's shirt.
Armpit Pete is an incidental minor character residing in the Reptile Hangout from Disney's 2025 animated feature film, Zootopia 2.
Background[]
Personality[]
Not much is known about Pete's personality, but it is shown that he, like an electric blue gecko next to him, love to find ways to acquire body heat, such as climbing onto and sticking to Nick Wilde's polo shirt. Even though he invades Nick's privacy, he compliments how warm his shirt is before being plucked off after trying to hold on for dear life, clearly not wanting to leave its heat.
Physical Appearance[]
Armpit Pete is a miniature, anthropomorphic leopard gecko, indicated by the golden yellow scales plastered with black spots. On the lower half, his scales are more pale and lack the spots on the upper half of his body. Pete has four fingers on each hand and foot with claws protruding out from each toe and finger. He also likes to keep his eyes split for reasons unknown.
Simple in attire, Pete wears a long-sleeved burgundy red sweater with a pair of black shorts underneath where his tail pokes out from back of the bottom.
Trivia[]
- Armpit Pete climbing onto Nick's shirt can be seen as a method of acquiring body heat. Since leopard geckos, like other geckos, lizards, and reptiles, are cold-blooded creatures, they have to acquire body heat from external forces rather than creating their own heat like mammals can.
- In reality, leopard geckos do not have adhesive toe-pads like other gecko species do, and thus, cannot stick to surfaces and walls like Nick's shirt. The reason for this is because leopard geckos are burrowers who live in holes underground to protect themselves, unlike their arboreal, tree-dwelling relatives.
- Being a leopard gecko, Pete actually seems to be the more realistically sized for the particular gecko species. There is another leopard gecko ordering a bug stick from Slick Di'Giguani that appears to be much bigger and taller than him.
- It is unknown if this is an animation error or a creative liberty taken between both gecko characters.
- Pete got his name from the recently released storyboard featuring the script of Zootopia 2 written by Jared Bush. A couple other reptiles in the script were called a Lizard Barback and a Sultry Lizard Lady.
