Motivation
[edit]CUATM (Q30015101) is my country's classifier of administrative territorial entities/units. All villages, cities, and first-level division have two IDs assigned: a 7-digits one which is called "statistical code" (in Romanian: cod statistic), and a 4-digits one which is called "settlement's unique identification code" (in Romanian: cod unic de identificare al localității). In Wikipedia, the 7-digits code is used in the infoboxes of Moldovan settlements in Russian Wikipedia, and the 4-digits code will be used to validate locations of the 11k archaeological locations of Moldova, which include the unique identifier in their IDs.
An item can only have one "statistical code" and one "settlement's unique identification code". A code can usually be assigned to only one item, with two exceptions:
- villages with are the seat of their communes (in which case both the villages and the commune share the same "statistical code" and the same "settlement's unique identification code"); example: Trebujeni (Q2447564) / Trebujeni (Q20858862).
- cities which municipality (municipiu) status that have some localities in their administration and thus act like first-level divisions; example: Bălți (Q37801) / Bălți Municipality (Q29017181)

[edit]- Support seems like a useful regional identifier even without a formatter URL. ArthurPSmith (talk) 21:58, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
