New item male (Q127688635)
[edit]I've created a new item, male (Q127688635): sex of an organism that produces sperm, to resolve some scope confusion I've noticed with this item. This item should properly refer to the category of male organisms (as the English label suggests); the item I created is for male as a sex category itself. I've started moving over some sitelinks but obviously I don't speak every language this has a sitelink in so I'm trying to be cautious about that. English Wikipedia was an obvious candidate because the article refers to the sex category in the lead ("Male is the sex ...") but it seems that in many languages the article goes more like "A male is an individual ...", in which case it would belong on this item. - I don't think it's a good idea. We have too many such items already (Q44148, male (Q6581097), man (Q8441), male human (Q84048850)), you've just increase the mess. How can property "male" be separated from "male organism"? --Infovarius (talk) 15:43, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Infovarius: Easily. male organism(44148), as the name suggests, refers to an organism that is male; in other words, male organism (Q44148)subclass of (P279)organism (Q7239) and male organism (Q44148)has characteristic (P1552)male (Q127688635). male (Q127688635) is the trait that male organism (Q44148) has distinguishing it from other types of organism (Q7239).
