We believe raising animals in a humane way is the only way it should be done. We have high standards in place that were developed in partnership with animal welfare experts.

By using a thorough, personal approach to selecting supplier-partners, we visit each potential facility to evaluate them with our own eyes. Once chosen, welfare audits and on-site assessments are conducted periodically to ensure our standards are being met.

Learn more about our commitment to animal welfare here.

At Wegmans, a strong food safety culture and commitment to quality is embedded in everything we do. For more than 25 years, the Wegman family has taken a leadership role in advancing food safety within our company and across the industry.

We partner with Wegmans Brand suppliers we trust and who share similar values. To be a supplier of Wegmans Brand finished products, raw materials/ingredients or packaging, we require you to be certified by a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognized certification program (or Harmonized GAP Plus+, produce only). Before we do business with a grower or supplier, whenever possible, we visit their fields or facilities to verify the steps taken to assure food safety and quality.

View Wegmans Supplier Codes of Practice for Wegmans Brand suppliers here.

We expect our suppliers to comply, at a minimum, with all applicable labor, employment, health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations of the country where the products are produced. In the absence of applicable laws or regulations, or in addition to them, suppliers are expected to meet the requirements set forth in Wegmans Supplier Codes of Practice, Vendor Guide and Private Label Agreements, if applicable.

Wegmans does not tolerate child labor or modern-day slavery—such as forced or compulsory labor or the trafficking of persons. Suppliers are required to commit to a work environment where employment is freely chosen and not performed under threat, deception, coercion, force or menace of penalty. Wegmans will audit or investigate any potential concerns regarding child labor, slavery, or human trafficking, whether by its direct supplier, transportation companies, or elsewhere in the supply chain.
