Chairs, when logged in, may publish draft and final reports. Please see report requirements.

Lots of WebVR work is happening – on Github

Several people asked how active the WebVR community group but had been misled by the lack of visible activity on this blog or on the mailing list.

Most of the group’s activity is happening in the WebVR Github Repository – and that’s quite a bit of activity, in particular with ongoing work on a “2.0” draft, completed with a introductory explainer document.

Following the Web & VR workshop discussions in October, standardizing WebVR in W3C is also part of the issues hosted in the Github repository.

Call for Participation in WebVR Community Group

The WebVR Community Group has been launched:

Our goal is to help bring high-performance Virtual Reality to the open Web.

In order to join the group, you will need a W3C account. Please note, however, that W3C Membership is not required to join a Community Group.

This is a community initiative. This group was originally proposed on 2016-02-29 by Chris Van Wiemeersch. The following people supported its creation: Chris Van Wiemeersch, Anssi Kostiainen, Brandon Jones, Diego Marcos, Malik Butler, Daniel Appelquist, Laszlo Gombos, jia hen Tee, Arturo Paracuellos, Donovan Kraeker. W3C’s hosting of this group does not imply endorsement of the activities.

The group must now choose a chair. Read more about how to get started in a new group and good practice for running a group.

We invite you to share news of this new group in social media and other channels.

If you believe that there is an issue with this group that requires the attention of the W3C staff, please email us at [email protected]

Thank you,
W3C Community Development Team
