The disturbing footage released by CNN showing Diddy attacking Cassie in 2016 has garnered reactions from around the industry—including a response from REVOLT. Puffy’s former company issued a statement regarding the unnerving surveillance clip, denouncing him for putting his hands on the entertainer.
“We are deeply saddened and disturbed by the recent video circulating of our former chairman, Sean “Diddy” Combs,” the company began. “Even with his recent separation from REVOLT, it is still our duty to address this matter, and recognize the direct impact it has on our staff, our audience, and the culture we represent.
“REVOLT stands in solidarity with all who have been a victim of abuse and remains committed to upholding the values and integrity our community expects from us. We vehemently stand against any form of domestic abuse, and will always be a fearless advocate for truth and accountability.”
CNN previously released the video on Friday (May 17), finally showing a glimpse into the claims first laid out in Cassie’s November bombshell lawsuit. The footage was taken from the now-defunct InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles in March 2016. Diddy can be seen chasing after Cassie Ventura as she attempts to leave the vicinity, appearing to try and flee from him.
Combs finally reaches the model, grabs her by the neck, and flings her to the ground. He immediately begins stomping and kicking the woman as she squirms. Later in the video, Puffy is also seen throwing vases and glasses at Cassie, who appears to be offscreen in the clip.
Once the clip hit the internet, Diddy backtracked on his stance that these allegations were merely a ploy to “destroy his reputation and his legacy,” as he remarked in a December 2023 statement. Instead of his usual bombastic fervor, Combs appeared dejected and distraught as he attempted to explain how sorry he was for his “inexcusable behavior.”
“I was f**ked up. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted. I was disgusted then when I did it; I’m disgusted now.
“I went out and sought professional help. Had to go into therapy, into rehab. Had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to being a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry,” he finished.
Additionally, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office issued a statement regarding the video, stating that they will not be investigating to file charges due to the 3-year statute of limitations preventing them from looking into cases that transpired before January 2020.
