Angel Reese stunned on the newest cover of VOGUE as she merged her love of sports and fashion.
“I ‘covered up’ and gave y’all COVERGIRL,” the WNBA star tweeted after the photos surfaced online on Wednesday (Jan. 8). She later noted on Instagram that “IT’S ALWAYS BEEN BOTH: BASKETBALL AND FASHION.”
This duality was also why she chose to announce her going pro through VOGUE instead of ESPN.
Reese detailed how basketball was a family sport during her upbringing, but she also “was a fashion girlie from young too.”
The proclaimed “Bayou Barbie” expressed, “I was always in my mom’s closet, putting on her stuff. I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do.” She reflected on watching America’s Next Top Model and how she “used to practice my walk in the living room.”
Reese confessed to having dreams of modeling in a “real fashion show,” specifically namedropping Paris Fashion Week.
Back in November, Reese was named Style Influencer Of The Year for the 2024 Footwear News Achievement Awards.
Of the honor in regard to her own style, she expressed, “For me, personal style is about seizing the moment and expressing who you are with unapologetic confidence. There’s no playbook for personal style, which makes fashion so empowering.
“Working with Reebok has been a dream because they truly support my vision and collaborate with me throughout the design process to create pieces that are authentically me,” she added about the major collaboration. “Together, we hope to inspire others to embrace their unique style with the same confidence.”
