مطلع صبح پہ چھائی ہے سیاہی کیسی

شہر رہ رہ کے یہ لیتا ہے جماہی کیسی

قرض جاں آج چکا دیں گے مگر یہ تو بتا

زندگی میں نے ترے ساتھ نباہی کیسی

مدتیں گزریں وہ گھر چھوڑ چکا ہے پھر بھی

ان دریچوں میں ہے بیتاب نگاہی کیسی

کتنی محدود تھیں مظلوم سروں کی فصلیں

قتل گاہیں تھیں مگر لامتناہی کیسی

اتفاقات ہیں اے شہر سیاست ورنہ

ہم فقیروں کے لئے مسند شاہی کیسی

کس قدر کاٹ ہے خاموش لبی میں ساغرؔ

جنگ بے تیغ بھی لڑتا ہے سپاہی کیسی

matla-e-subh pe chhai hai siyahi kaisi
shahr rah rah ke ye leta hai jamahi kaisi

qarz-e-jaan aaj chuka denge magar ye to bata
zindagi main ne tere sath nibahi kaisi

muddaten guzrin wo ghar chhoD chuka hai phir bhi
in darichon mein hai betab-nigahi kaisi

kitni mahdud thin mazlum saron ki faslen
qatl-gahen thin magar la-mutanahi kaisi

ittifaqat hain ai shahr-e-siyasat warna
hum faqiron ke liye masnad-e-shahi kaisi

kis qadar kaT hai KHamosh-labi mein 'saghar'
jang be-tegh bhi laDta hai sipahi kaisi
