اپنوں کے درمیان سلامت نہیں رہے

اپنوں کے درمیان سلامت نہیں رہے

دیوار و در مکان سلامت نہیں رہے

نفرت کی گرد جمع نگاہوں میں رہ گئی

الفت کے قدردان سلامت نہیں رہے

روشن ہیں آرزو کے بہت زخم آج بھی

زخموں کے کچھ نشان سلامت نہیں رہے

ایسا نہیں کہ صرف یقیں در بدر ہوا

دل کے کئی گمان سلامت نہیں رہے

محفوظ بام و در ہیں صداقت کے آج بھی

دھوکے کے پاندان سلامت نہیں رہے

اپنوں سے اپنے لہجے میں باتوں کا ہے کمال

کچھ شخص بد زبان سلامت نہیں رہے

وہ لوگ بے ادب تھے کنولؔ بے خلوص تھے

ہم جیسے بے زبان سلامت نہیں رہے

diwar-o-dar makan salamat nahin rahe

nafrat ki gard jama nigahon mein rah gai
ulfat ke qadr-dan salamat nahin rahe

raushan hain aarzu ke bahut zaKHm aaj bhi
zaKHmon ke kuchh nishan salamat nahin rahe

aisa nahin ki sirf yaqin dar-ba-dar hua
dil ke kai guman salamat nahin rahe

mahfuz baam-o-dar hain sadaqat ke aaj bhi
dhoke ke pandan salamat nahin rahe

apnon se apne lahje mein baaton ka hai kamal
kuchh shaKHs bad-zaban salamat nahin rahe

wo log be-adab the 'kanwal' be-KHulus the
hum jaise be-zaban salamat nahin rahe
