روایتوں کو کبھی تم اساس مت کرنا

میں لوٹ آؤں گا ہرگز یہ آس مت کرنا

گرفت خواب سے جس نے رہائی دی تم کو

وہ خود بھی جاگتا ہوگا قیاس مت کرنا

بکھر رہے ہو تو پھر ٹوٹتا بھی اندر سے

شکستگی کو تم اپنا لباس مت کرنا

کیا ہو جاں سے گزرنے کا فیصلہ جس میں

اس ایک لمحے کو صرف ہراس مت کرنا

اگرچہ ہاتھ میں ہو کاسۂ گدائی بھی

خدا کے بعد کسی کی سپاس مت کرنا

خزاں کے وار سے گھبرا کے اے جمیلؔ کبھی

شگفت گل کے لیے التماس مت کرنا

riwayaton ko kabhi tum asas mat karna
main lauT aaunga hargiz ye aas mat karna

giraft-e-KHwab se jis ne rihai di tum ko
wo KHud bhi jagta hoga qayas mat karna

bikhar rahe ho to phir TuTta bhi andar se
shikastagi ko tum apna libas mat karna

kiya ho jaan se guzarne ka faisla jis mein
us ek lamhe ko sarf-e-hiras mat karna

agarche hath mein ho kasa-e-gadai bhi
KHuda ke baad kisi ki sipas mat karna

KHizan ke war se ghabra ke ai 'jamil' kabhi
shaguft-e-gul ke liye iltimas mat karna
