Basheer Saifi was a critic and a poet. Saifi was his pen name. He was born on 3rd Oct 1948, in Rawalpindi. He did his M.A in Urdu and he pursued his research and got a degree. His topic of research was Inshaiya Nigari in Urdu. He took up the profession of teaching in Rawalpindi. After that, he worked at Allama Iqbal Open University. In addition to poetry, he was also interested in criticism. He died in Rawalpindi on 22 August 2000. Matlaa, Qatra, Mojood, Guftar, Shoa’raa-E-Rawalpindi Urdu Me Afsana Nigari Khaakanigari Naey Pakistani Afsaaney Tanqeed-I-Mutaaley and Dhoop Se Khali Din are the collections of his work.-
