Probably not. Who cares? It's a great line, especially coming from McGoohan. Later on in the movie one of the characters says "it's a done deal"--a line more appropriate to multi-billionaires buying a 50 story office building in late 20th century Downtown LA or mid-town Manhattan than to late 13th century Scotland.

Facetiousness aside, having pale skin is viewed quite favorably in Pakistan, far moreso than in Europe or the US. Just look at the rhetoric surrounding the Bengalis in the early 1970s, or how many self-loathing Pakistanis desperately claim they have Turk or Iranian or Arab ancestors despite their facial features for many clearly indicating their South Asian-ness. And this is not new in Northern India. Even before the Mughals of whom they are so proud (who called themselves “white” and the subjugated natives “black”) came, if you had pale skin, you had money: you weren’t laboring in the hot sun.

Speaking as an Englishman, I quite agree. I think the events of the last few weeks have pushed me further towards thinking that independence and secession movements will be a big feature of the coming decades in the Western world. The United Kingdom in particular so neatly maps the historic period of colonialism and slavery that it already has several marks against it in the current political climate. The BLM UK page was noticably full of Scots and Gaelic, so many 'Nationalists' in Scotland are already making those connections. And of course, there will also be more unspoken and pragmatic reasons to want to escape the fate of England.

Edinburgh's Dundas statue to be dedicated to slavery victims

The City of Edinburgh is proposing to dedicate a controversial 1827 Henry Dundas monument to those enslaved because of his actions.

New signage will explain that Dundas was "instrumental in deferring the abolition of the Atlantic slave trade".

The statue on a tall column in Edinburgh's St Andrew Square was funded by voluntary subscription.

Council leader Adam McVey said it was important to highlight "the good and the bad" of Edinburgh's story.
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-52997858

The Scottish streets and monuments built on the slave trade

The 150ft Melville Monument in St Andrew Square honours 18th Century politician Henry Dundas, who delayed the abolition of the slave trade.

Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville, put forward an amendment to a bill which would abolish slavery in 1792, opting for a more "gradualist approach".

This allowed the practice to continue for a further 15 years - resulting in some 630,000 slaves having to wait more than a decade for their freedom.

Bute House, the official residence of the first minister, has many links to the slave trade.

It was home to John Innes Crawford who inherited his father's estates in Jamaica including the Bellfield sugar plantation and several hundred people who were considered part of the property.

Later Sir John Sinclair of Ulbster - an MP - lived in the residence. Like many others, he claimed compensation for the loss of hundreds of enslaved people after the abolition.

Glasgow's streets are littered with references to the slave trade from the profiteers (Oswald Street, Cochrane Street, Glassford Street and Wilson Street) to the geography - Jamaica Street, Virginia Street and Tobago Street.

But one of the most well known streets in the city is named after Andrew Buchanan of Drumpellier, who served as Lord Provost and owned plantations in Virginia.

His former estate - Drumpellier House - is located near Coatbridge.

Following protests around the UK calling for an end to the glorification of slave traders, Barclays confirmed it will drop his name from a major riverside development which was marketed as Buchanan Wharf.

And over the weekend, campaigners renamed a number of Glasgow's streets after civil rights figures and those who died in police custody.

Many slave traders' mansions and churches were laid out near what is now Merchant City.

The Gallery of Modern Art was one of them, home to William Cunninghame of Lainshaw who made a fortune through the tobacco and sugar trades.

He conducted his business from the city mansion but enjoyed leisure time in his country estate at Lainshaw near Stewarton.
    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-52978121

In 1796, Scots owned nearly 30 per cent of the estates in Jamaica and by 1817, a staggering 32 per cent of the slaves.

There were familiar names such as Scot Lyle of Tate and Lyle fame whose fortune was built on slavery. Ewing from Glasgow was the richest sugar producer in Jamaica.

The stunning Inveresk Lodge in Edinburgh, now open to the public, was bought by James Wedderburn with money earned from 27 years in Jamaica as a notorious slaver.

The Wee Free Church was founded using profits and donations from the slave trade. Even our schools have a dark history. Bathgate Academy was built from money willed by John Newland, a renowned slave master and Dollar Academy has a similar foundation.

For many years, the goods and profits from West Indian slavery were unloaded at Kingston docks in Glasgow.

Leith in Edinburgh and Glasgow were popular ports from which ambitious Scottish men sailed to make their fortunes as slave masters.

They viewed the Bengalis as racial inferiors-"a low lying land of low people", in the words of one Pakistani general-who had no business seceding. As always with the subcontinent, things are rarely as simple as that: there were Muslim militias that collaborated with the Pakistanis, and the Hindu minority was selected for especially brutal treatment. But the atrocities cannot be explained absent how the Pakistani military establishment viewed Bengalis as a race, particularly the mass rapes.

(Although I'm usually pretty insistent that communal and racial hatred on the subcontinent long predated the British-because it did-there was this whole British-era "martial races" theory that a lot of Pakistani military men subscribed to, with the likes of the Punjabis and Pashtuns being thought of as innately more fit for battle than the Bengalis. That's a vital component of the wishful thinking that animated not just their thinking about East Pakistan, but also India prior to 1971. The 1971 war damaged this theory beyond repair, and that is one reason why the military embraced Islamism instead-along with the atom bomb project.)

    >In their part of the world, skin tone correlates less with intelligence and industry than it does in the rest of the world– would you rather have your coding done by a dark Dravidian or a pasty Afghan?

Whoever said this stuff was logical? South India is decidedly more developed and civilized than North India or Pakistan (complete with the predictable birth rate gap), but that doesn't stop the Bollywood fueled skin cream business.

Here's my real question, though: If the Conservatives used this, a video of a leftwing Scottish MP, Humza Yousaf, decrying white people, in a campaign commercial, who would be charged with the hate crime: the people running the ad, or Humza Yousaf? I think it's tough to argue that Pashtuns aren't an especially "martial" race, in some sense or another. I mean, they've been fighting a civil war for 50 years now.

It's somewhat questionable, but plausible, that martial races produce soldiers who are more effective -- especially under foreign officers, which is what the British were looking for.

But it appears entirely untrue that martial races, in leadership of their own armies and states, are generally better at prosecuting war. Genghis Khan was of a martial race. But for most times and places in history, the farmers in the river valleys were able to muster more powerful armies than the horse archer nomads, who mostly resorted to raiding.

No one likes England, just look at all the anti-English comments on this site alone. I think England and the English people, whether rightly or wrongly, will be made the scapegoat for colonialism and the oppression of "people of colour".

England will be the first nation to fall in the creation of the NWO, it has to be for the rest to follow. The rest won't fall into line with the globalists until they see hated England toppled. I don't believe Britain/England will survive as a nation state, it will be split up into "regions", something they've been planning for years. The destruction of England, the wiping of Britain/England off the map as a nation-state, will be seen as symbolic of the toppling of the "Old Order" to make way for the "New Order".

Bangladesh does have a nasty habit of public atheists ending up on the wrong end of stabbings, but to its credit, the country is not an outright sectarian hellhole like Pakistan. That might not sound like much, but when you are a nation with Bangladesh's level of issues, that's not trivial to accomplish. One under-noted achievement was shrinking the birth rate from 6 kids per woman to around 2. That's not going to help much given how the land is shrinking and the population crest is still coming, but the Bangladeshis at least made a genuine effort as a conservative, Muslim South Asian country to get their house in order.

I suspect part of the reason is that Bengali culture does have a documented intellectual streak to it despite the Bengal's more recent history of gross poverty: Satyendra Bose of BEC fame was one of the first non-Europeans doing serious work in modern physics. This is mere speculation. I strongly, strongly recommend Razib Khan for anything South Asia related, and especially anything Bengali related, not me.

    >There’s a whole martial caste in Hinduism.

It's quite possible that the British glossed over the nuances of an immensely complex place of filled with an innumerable amount competing ethnic groups, of course.

But there's also the reality that the Muslims were the British before the British: during the conquest of the subcontinent, British officers commented that many of the supposed Indian bureaucrats they deal with were actually imported Persians. The Mughals were an imported conquest dynasty: one that got highly Indianized with time just as the Mongols and Manchus got Sinicized in China, but foreign nonetheless. Given their experience of dealing with primarily "Western" Muslim staffed bureaucracies and officers in the previous regime, I think you can see how the British tended to get the notion that certain people tended to arise as soldiers.

The group they *really* leaned on for soldiering were Sikhs, though. Sikh theology, to my understanding, posits the notion of every male as a spiritual warrior of sorts, though the fact that the Sikhs tended to remain loyal in 1857 probably also played a key role.
  77. Scotland is a de facto small nation-state. In smaller European nations like Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, etc., white men still occupy the top professional and government positions, even if these nations display a left wing aesthetic. White men still run the show.

This subcontinental wants to turn Scotland into a larger-sized dystopian multicultural hellhole, so that it can resemble a larger country like Canada, England or France. Or an American blue state. Where the hospitals are run by Indians, the corner stores run by Arabs and the government run by a hodgepodge of various merchant minorities.

I think it’s tough to argue that Pashtuns aren’t an especially “martial” race, in some sense or another. I mean, they’ve been fighting a civil war for 50 years now.

It’s somewhat questionable, but plausible, that martial races produce soldiers who are more effective — especially under foreign officers, which is what the British were looking for.

Bangladesh does have a nasty habit of public atheists ending up on the wrong end of stabbings, but to its credit, the country is not an outright sectarian hellhole like Pakistan. That might not sound like much, but when you are a nation with Bangladesh’s level of issues, that’s not trivial to accomplish. One under-noted achievement was shrinking the birth rate from 6 kids per woman to around 2. That’s not going to help much given how the land is shrinking and the population crest is still coming, but the Bangladeshis at least made a genuine effort as a conservative, Muslim South Asian country to get their house in order.

I suspect part of the reason is that Bengali culture does have a documented intellectual streak to it despite the Bengal’s more recent history of gross poverty: Satyendra Bose of BEC fame was one of the first non-Europeans doing serious work in modern physics. This is mere speculation. I strongly, strongly recommend Razib Khan for anything South Asia related, and especially anything Bengali related, not me.

    >There’s a whole martial caste in Hinduism.

It’s quite possible that the British glossed over the nuances of an immensely complex place of filled with an innumerable amount competing ethnic groups, of course.

But there’s also the reality that the Muslims were the British before the British: during the conquest of the subcontinent, British officers commented that many of the supposed Indian bureaucrats they deal with were actually imported Persians. The Mughals were an imported conquest dynasty: one that got highly Indianized with time just as the Mongols and Manchus got Sinicized in China, but foreign nonetheless. Given their experience of dealing with primarily “Western” Muslim staffed bureaucracies and officers in the previous regime, I think you can see how the British tended to get the notion that certain people tended to arise as soldiers.

The group they *really* leaned on for soldiering were Sikhs, though. Sikh theology, to my understanding, posits the notion of every male as a spiritual warrior of sorts, though the fact that the Sikhs tended to remain loyal in 1857 probably also played a key role.

Here's my real question, though: If the Conservatives used this, a video of a leftwing Scottish MP, Humza Yousaf, decrying white people, in a campaign commercial, who would be charged with the hate crime: the people running the ad, or Humza Yousaf? And would Facebook allow it to run, or would they pull it for being racist?

Also Prof Brian Sykes said in a book of his that most of the maps tables estimates of hair eye colour etc in different European countries regions etc were and are inaccurate and he cites numerous examples of this from different eras. One example was from a survey about iirc a particular part of Northern Scotland where the people were usually described as blond and ruddy but actual surveys found most townsfolk to be black haired and what we might called swarthy or dark.
