Since the start of this year, the Ukraine has mounted an accelerating campaign to shut down all "pro-Russia" (apostrophes because more often than not they're not so much explicitly pro-Russian, as merely less anti-Russian and more oppositionist than the mainstream) media. Examples include: This February saw the shutdown of three TV channels (112 Ukraine, NewsOne... Read More
The US and EU governments are accusing Belarus of "state terrorism" for forcing a RyanAir flight containing Roman Protasevich, an anti-Lukashenko activist, to make an emergency landing after a bomb hoax. He participated in the Euromaidan, although other reports that he worked as a press secretary for the Azov Battalion in the subsequent Donbass War... Read More
Society 282 in action! But actually, it's not just a "society" (as in "social pressure", no matter how artificial) by now. No flight lists are compiled by the federal government. All that because Fuentes turned out to a (legal) protest for Orange Man. You have Ricky Vaughn railroaded for literally posting memes on Twitter in... Read More
Leaked documents have unequivocally proven that the United Kingdom has been running a large-scale and well-funded program to plaster the Western media with anti-Russian propaganda and Twitter wants you to know that these materials were obtained through hacking. Meanwhile, just a few weeks ago, the connections between American Big Tech and these sundry programs were... Read More
Several months ago, I speculated why Twitter would suspend the Valdai Club (a milquetoast discussion group that largely centers around economics issues and has a large component of systemic liberals within in). Now we have an answer. RT: Twitter is an American company and it's long been clear that it is used along with Facebook... Read More
There has been a large leak of documents from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) showing that the UK is sponsoring and providing editorial guidance to anti-Kremlin journalists, media organizations, and YouTubers as part of a £100 million plan to "tackle Kremlin disinformation" during 2018-22. Their aim, forthrightly stated, is to "[weaken] the Russian... Read More
This is the creative group responsible for peddling RASHN DEZINFORMATSIYA like the "Draft our Daughters" and Taylor "The Ten-Ton Terror of Tel Aviv" Swift meme campaign. These people were all kicked off Twitter and Blompf did nothing about it, one of many things that contributed to him losing in 2020. Who knows, with margins being... Read More
Natasha Bertrand, writing for Politico, says that conspiracy theories promoted by a "former economic policy adviser" to Putin "raise the specter of Russian attempts to sow chaos and doubt in the legitimacy of US elections." Said conspiracy theories refer to a Jan 8, 2021 blog post entitled "Burning of the Reichstag 2021" on his Russian... Read More
In this "summary" post on Corona 2020, I will cover some of the following. Recap what we know about Corona, what we have learned in the past year, and what policies should have been undertaken; The big picture of global excess mortality that is emerging for 2020; Discuss the vaccines, "vaccine geopolitics", and Corona's impact... Russian Duma to consider law on blocking foreign social media that censor the free speech of Russian citizens: Blogging about this a bit late - it was introduced three weeks ago - but this is partially Even though I have long conclusively confirmed that PUTLER reads my blog, he is still a boomer at heart,... Some Berlin-based organization called the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) has compiled a global "Academic Freedom Index." It reminds one of that ranking showing the US best prepared for a pandemic, and indeed, to confirm my point, the GPPi proceeded to Block me when I made that point to them on Twitter. Evolutionary psychologist Lee... Read More
Here's the predictive record of a certain Russian "pundit" who is constantly quoted as an authority by Western hacks: 2013: "Putin system degenerating and will be swept away". 2016: Russians turn against Putin in 2017. 2016: Putin may be about to quit due to illness. 2017: "The last time I felt like this was at... Sad but not atypical libertarian story: Glenn Greenwald has been censored by The Intercept, the media outlet he co-founded, after Russiagate neolibs and SJWs took it over and essentially turned it into a Mother Jones clone. He has now departed for Substack. My only surprise at this point is that it hasn't happened sooner. Although... Read More
RT: Could they be blocked? Russia refuses to grant extension to Facebook & Twitter over demand to store citizens’ data inside country In related news: (1) Twitter has gone from labeling Russian (and Chinese) state news channels "state affiliated media" (while failing to extend the same standards to Western state-owned outlets such as RFERL, or... The wages of relying on hostile foreigners for your IT infrastructure: Tsargrad TV has been permanently kicked off YouTube. Sure, it's something that people want to signal they support. That is because it is a prestigious view, and higher IQ people with correspondingly higher levels of social discernment realize that, and act accordingly. But only so long as you stay within the reservation, as Glenn Greenwald's revelation about the Harper's letter demonstrates: I do... Read More
BLM/Antifa is pretty useful to the elites for diverting buntive energies into woke signaling over nationalist populism and class war, but they do have to be reined in whenever they do start going off the reservation. You can rant as much as you like about how Trump is a goddamn cheeto and Putler's puppet, but... Read More
That the Alt Right/nationalists are again being shoahed across the Internet is nothing new: YouTube: Stefan Molyneux; NPI/Radix; AmRen; Richard Spencer; David Duke Reddit: Some 2,000 subs, including /r/HBD, the few remaining more "intellectual" nationalist subs that had evaded a ban to this day, and a bunch of vaguely transgressive joke/meme subs. This week's open thread. UR commenter Atavisionary says that we are now apparently "soft banned" on Reddit as well (click to see thread): We are rapidly becoming one of the most persecuted websites in the entire world, and quite possibly in all of history.
It's not just brats denouncing their "regressive" parents to popular acclaim on Twatter and Plebbit. We are now seeing case after case of people getting fired from work on the basis of political quasi-crimes (e.g. racist or more often "racist" statements) committed by their spouses or relatives. One mob has succeeded in getting a Lebanese... Read More
Over the past ~5 years, there have been intermittent debates amongst the HBD crowd as to what will come first. Widespread HBD acceptance, due to the "free market of ideas" leading to a kind of "enlightened" radical centrist utopia in which liberal-left goodie-goodness is anchored in a benign paternalism borne of HBD realism (i.e. what... Propaganda: The FTFY version (h/t Bryan MacDonald): *** Would indeed be pretty strange for the Ukraine to do it for free, since it has received a grand total of $1.2 million in Corona-related aid, which is basically an insult even relative to Ukraine's economy. On March 25, TASS reported that Russia send 15 military aircraft to deliver specialist and equipment to help Italy in the fight against its coronavirus epidemic. This included 600 ventilators. Reddit has just quarantined The_Donald, the single biggest Trump support forum on the Internet. A German writes about Russians in the NYT: Now it's not that he is necessarily wrong. In light of recent news, now is perhaps a good time to remind ourselves of perhaps the most succinct and information dense explanation of why Assad is less bad than the "moderate rebels." Via Nicholas Nassim Taleb:

This is not to say that there haven't been voices of dissent. For instance, Prof.... Read More

About Anatoly Karlin

I am a blogger, thinker, and businessman in the SF Bay Area. I’m originally from Russia, spent many years in Britain, and studied at U.C. Berkeley.

One of my tenets is that ideologies tend to suck. As such, I hesitate about attaching labels to myself. That said, if it’s really necessary, I suppose “liberal-conservative neoreactionary” would be close enough.

Though I consider myself part of the Orthodox Church, my philosophy and spiritual views are more influenced by digital physics, Gnosticism, and Russian cosmism than anything specifically Judeo-Christian.
