2024 Dodgers in review: Nick Frasso

In a season that saw the Dodgers use a franchise-record 40 different pitchers, and had to navigate through October with only three starting pitchers, 2024 feels like a missed opportunity for Nick Frasso, who was sidelined by a pair of surgeries.

The Dodgers added Frasso to the 40-man roster in November 2023, and he entered the year on four top-100 prospect lists. But the Dodgers added Frasso to the 40-man roster after had shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder last November, which was revealed at DodgerFest at Dodger Stadium in February.

Any chance of perhaps a late-season stint on the mound, or perhaps the Arizona Fall League, was scuttled when Frasso also had a “cleanup” hip procedure in March that shifted 2024 to a full rehab year.

The other two players added to the Dodgers’ 40-man roster last November — pitcher Landon Knack and catcher Hunter Feduccia — each made their major league debuts this season.

The Dodgers acquired the 6’5 right-hander in August 2022 in a four-player trade that sent Mitch White to the Blue Jays. Frasso had a 3.77 ERA with 107 strikeouts (a 26.8-percent strikeout rate) and 31 walks in 93 innings between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2023.

If Frasso makes the majors in 2025, it would be a homecoming sorts as he was born in Torrance and went to college at Loyola Marymount.

Though he did not pitch, Frasso was one of several players at DodgerFest on February 4, so he did at least get to wear his Dodgers No. 79 jersey at Dodger Stadium in 2024.

Roster status

Frasso has yet to appear in the majors and has two option years remaining after using an option in 2024.
