About
Ayako Hirogaki
Through her work, Ayako explores the coexistence and interplay of the visible body and the invisible aspects of life, such as emotions, memories, and consciousness. Many of her pieces use the human body as a motif, with glass as the primary material. Ayako is interested in the fragility of glass as well as the uncertainty of its existence due to its colorless and transparent nature.
She covers her figures with countless glass rods in this series of works, blurring its contours. This approach expresses the fragility of our body, as well as the fleeting and uncertain nature of life. Ayako finds beauty in both the human form itself and the meticulously arranged pattern of the glass rods.
