SUBSTANCE USE
Substance use is a term used to describe the continuum of problems related to misuse of substances that are potentially addictive. Ongoing use can lead to addiction, which is progressive, chronic, and potentially fatal. Like other chronic diseases, it can be managed with ongoing support and the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle. TLAP's staff can provide counseling as well as referrals to professionals in the substance use field who are familiar with the challenges of the legal profession. TLAP also can provide referrals to professionals who treat process addictions, such as gambling, internet, sex, and pornography.
