Smart gift wrap storage ensures your wrapping supplies stay tidy and secure until your next gift-giving occasion. This way, you know exactly what you have and where it is, so you're always ready to give a gift beautifully. It also saves you a lot of time and stress, which is essential during the busy holiday season.

Even better, an organized collection can actually make wrapping gifts fun, instead of overwhelming. To start creating a gift-wrapping system, you have to take stock of what you have and know your preferences and priorities when it comes to gift-wrapping and organization.

Do you need sturdy protection for bows and handmade tags? Do you value easy access and space for your endless collection of wrapping paper rolls? Do you often lose the tape dispenser and scissors and dream of having them in an easy-to-find spot? Once you've taken inventory of your supplies and habits, you can find exactly what you need in a gift wrap organizer.

So, grab your cozy slippers, consider your gift wrap needs, and then scan our list of the best gift wrap storage solutions. We researched and tested plenty of options, evaluating each organizer for its capacity, features, and quality of material used.

What We Like
  • Straps for securing rolls

  • Protects contents well

  • Lots of space for tall paper rolls

  • Clear compartment for gift bags

What We Don't Like
  • Doesn’t hold shape when empty

  • Zip sticks when empty

This all-in-one gift wrap storage solution from Primode seriously impressed us with its huge capacity, thoughtful design touches, and flexible storage options. It’s just long enough to hold our longest wrapping paper rolls, but thin enough to easily slide under a bed or stand up in a closet where it’s safe and out of the way until the next holiday or birthday comes around.

We tend to keep a bunch of different wrapping paper on hand for various occasions, so we love that this storage container has room for up to 24 rolls—including rolls up to 40 inches long (our best bin pick only accommodates rolls up to 36 inches long for comparison).

Included straps are great for keeping the rolls securely in place (we felt like our wrapping paper was very secure in this container), and we were able to use the adjustable divider to create a space at one end for smaller items like ribbons, tape, and scissors.

In addition to the main wrapping paper compartment, we also enjoyed the clear vinyl storage pockets on the inside of the lid. They didn’t hold gift bags in place as securely as the straps held our wrapping paper, but it was still nice to have a place for small, flat items.

When we first unboxed this container, we were a little deflated at how it failed to hold its shape when empty. The zipper stuck a little when opening it up since there wasn’t any structure to keep it straight. That issue went away when we packed it full of all our wrapping paper, though, as it held its shape nicely.

With the container full of wrapping paper, we enjoyed how easy it was to pick up and move around since it’s so lightweight. There isn’t any rigid structure to protect the wrapping paper, but we didn’t notice any damage when we tried dropping it on the floor. The zipper seals it well, so we think it’s a good, safe way to keep your wrapping paper safe from moisture, bugs, and dust as long as you don’t set anything heavy on it.

Dimensions: 41 x 14 x 6 inches | Weight: 3.16 pounds | Material: Oxford Fabric | Additional Features: Zip closure, handles, clear inner pockets

What We Like
  • Transparent material allows contents to stay visible

  • Zip closure and handles

  • Comes in a two-pack

What We Don't LIke
  • No side pockets or storage for small items

Are you looking to store rolls, rolls, and more rolls of wrapping paper? Look no further than these Elf Stor Gift Wrap Storage Bags. With sturdy nylon handles and zip closures, this cost-effective set of two allows you to sort your supplies, using one for holiday supplies and the other for birthdays and other occasions.

And since they're transparent, you can see exactly which occasion you're reaching for. Notably, the bags are super lightweight and barely add any bulk to your holiday closet's collection. With room for up to 25 rolls in each budget bag, they can be stashed under a bed, on the top shelf of your closet, or even leaned upright in the corner of a craft room.

Two sizes are available—40.5 or 31 inches long—so, whether you typically buy standard or larger-sized rolls of wrapping paper, you can find a fit. Just keep in mind that there are no smaller sections or pockets for gift tags, labels, or ribbons. These bags are really meant for rolls only.

If that's what you're looking to store, or you really don't mind getting creative with your storage solutions, you'll be hard-pressed to find a more budget-friendly choice.

Dimensions: 40 x 9 x 9 inches | Weight: 0.89 pounds | Material: Nylon, polyvinyl chloride | Additional Features: Handles, zip closure

What We Like
  • Four smaller compartments lift out for easy access

  • Neutral, transparent design

  • Can slide under a bed

What We Don't Like
  • Length of bin does not accommodate larger rolls

The Container Store has put together an efficient and effective bundle of bins to create this Customized Gift Wrap Center. Their Long Underbed Box serves as the main catch-all, with three coordinating Accessory Boxes and one Shoe Box added to designate space for scissors, pens, bows, and more. Each of the five bins comes with a lid, too.

The frosted transparent material gives you a view of the inside contents, so there's no guessing about where your favorite printed paper from last year ended up. It's worth noting that each of these pieces is also sold separately. So, if you want to customize your purchase with an extra accessory box in lieu of the shoebox—or you have another idea altogether—you can easily do that.

The one other note is that the main bin is just under 36 inches. It's well-suited for standard-sized rolls of wrapping paper, but is not suitable for oversized or large ones, so you'll need to shop and store accordingly.

Dimensions: 35.63 x 18.25 x 6.25 inches | Weight: Not listed | Material: Polypropylene | Additional Features: Lids on each bin, customizable interior

What We Like
  • Transparent windows keep contents visible

  • Designed to hang on the back of a door

  • Removable bag to hold supplies and accessories

What We Don't Like
  • Capacity is only 12 rolls of wrapping paper

If you like your gift wrap storage to hang off the ground, the Santa's Bags Hanging Wrapping Paper Storage Bag will do the trick. Made to hang on the back of a door, you can enjoy easy access to your supplies all season or year-round.

We like the removable toolbox bag for your supplies and accessories, like ribbons, and the clear vinyl window, so you can keep an eye on your supply (and so you won't find yourself completely out of labels at midnight on Christmas Eve). It's also sturdy enough that you can lift it down and tip it against the wall, and we like how lightweight it is to move from room to room.

Just note: if your collection of wrapping paper exceeds 12 rolls, you may need two or a separate space for your backups. If you tend to hang onto a dozen or fewer rolls at a time and want to keep everything secure in the middle of the busy holiday season, this hanging bag is a great choice.

Dimensions: 48 x 10 x 5 inches | Weight: Not listed | Material: Polyester | Additional Features: Detachable toolbox bag

What We Like
  • Space for wrapping paper, bags, and other supplies

  • Can accommodate large rolls of wrapping paper

  • Transparent windows keep contents in view

What We Don't Like
  • Can get bulky when full

With a swiveling hook and two-sided design, the Simple Houseware Double-Sided Hanging Gift Wrap Organizer is a great choice for anyone who wants the added convenience of hanging up their gift wrap collection but still wants to lower it down easily. The hook can easily fit most standard closet rods, or you can hang it with your hardware of choice on any wall you choose.

Notably, transparent pockets ensure your items are easy to spot, and varying pouch sizes and lidded options give you a bunch of space for everything you need to wrap a gift. (Yep, that includes your scissors and roll of sticky gift labels). We especially like how it has designated room for wrapping paper and for bags—or even bags made out of wrapping paper.

We do see this organizer becoming bulky and potentially looking a bit chaotic if it is filled to the brim. But, all in all, given how functional and practical it is, that's a risk we're willing to take. Plus, thanks to its two sides, you have wiggle room when it comes to what's visible and what's hidden as you're filling and using it.

Bigso Light Grey Greeting Card Organizer
Credit: The Container Store
What We Like
  • Attractive, lidded design

  • Dividers included

  • Label slot

What We Don't Like
  • Only one color option available

This sleek and simple Bigso Light Grey Greeting Card Organizer is pretty and practical. It's made of lightweight, yet durable fiberboard, and it includes 12 matching tabbed dividers, so you can keep your holiday cards separate from your birthday cards.

There's even a partition in the middle, so cards and the dividers won't fall over if you don't have enough to fill it (yet). The box comes with a matching lid, so the contents stay hidden, too. Coordinating products are also available from Bigso and sold separately at The Container Store, so if you want to pick up matching holders for other desk or stationery items, you have options.

Still, we can easily see this card box being useful year-round, and you can use the label on the front to remind you what's inside. That way, you have no excuse to miss your friend's special day, your nephew's big college graduation, or a sweet Valentine's Day card for your lovebird.

Dimensions: 10 x 9 x 7 inches | Weight: Not listed | Material: Fiberboard, chrome accent | Additional Features: Lidded, dividers, matching line of products available

What We Like
  • Comes in a neutral color

  • Rolls for easy movement

  • Versatile and functional for multiple purposes

What We Don't Like
  • Assembly required

A rolling craft cart can be a great wrapping paper storage solution because it can easily go from room to room (watch out for stairs, though!). The Honey-Can-Do Craft Storage Cart has space for all your bells and baubles, along with gift tags, cards, and cute tape. It features three shelves, three drawers, and slotted compartments that are perfect for vertically stored rolls of wrapping paper or spools of ribbon.

We're also fans of the neutral white color that can be used for all seasons of gift wrap. Speaking of seasons, this piece is so versatile that you can easily adapt it for crafts or other storage in between holidays. Honestly, because it requires more assembly than the other options on this list, we're glad that it's practical enough for you to get plenty of use. You can set it up in your home office, playroom, or even basement.

Dimensions: 13.3 x 15.9 x 33.8 inches | Weight: 32 pounds | Material: Engineered wood | Additional Features: Wheels, dowels, drawers

Final Verdict

Our overall best recommendation, the Primode Wrapping Paper Storage Container, is well-designed with room for wrapping paper rolls, bags, and other gift-giving supplies. We like the secure zip closure and convenient handles for easy transport around your home. Our best value pick is a pair of Elf Stor Wrap Storage Bags. These bags can easily store dozens of rolls of wrapping paper and can be stashed under a bed, on the top shelf of your closet, or even leaned upright in the corner of a craft room.

What to Look for in a Gift Wrap Storage Organizer

Different Size and Organization Options

While it's easy to be swayed by the festive photos and styling choices that many of these storage systems offer, it's always a good idea to consider how an organizer will work for you. "Make sure to choose an organizer that is large enough to fit everything neatly.

Before you start shopping, measure the space where you plan to store the organizer. This will help you narrow down your choices and avoid buying an organizer that is too big or too small," explains Dr. Regina Lark, professional organizer and founder of A Clear Path: Professional Organizing and Productivity.

Maybe you have a number of rolls on hand that you bring out year after year—if so, consider our best value pick, the Elf Stor Wrap Storage Bags. Maybe you have an impressive collection of gift bags along with a variety of wrapping paper. If that's the case, our best hanging storage pick, the Santa's Bag Hanging Wrapping Paper Storage Bag, could be a great fit because it can accommodate both.

As an essential for holiday organization, a gift wrap storage container should be suited to the wrapping supplies you love to use. Thankfully, there are plenty of choices out there, suitable for standard-sized wrapping paper rolls (usually around 30 inches) and oversized rolls (in the 40-inch range).

Just double-check that your option is suitable for the jumbo ones you may have on hand because not every organizer is made with them in mind. And when you have a few minutes, Lark suggests that you purge your supplies regularly. "Get rid of any wrapping paper that is torn or wrinkled, and any gift bags or ribbons that are damaged," she says.

Sturdy, Durable, and Waterproof Materials

As with ornament storage containers, the material of your gift-wrapping organizer not only determines part of its appearance but also how sturdy and durable it is. Gift wrap doesn't require the same kind of protection as your heirloom decor or your favorite glass tree ornaments. Still, it's a good idea to go with a durable container that will protect and secure your supplies so you can use and enjoy them for as long as possible.

"Plastic storage containers are durable, easy to clean, and relatively inexpensive," says Lark. "They are also waterproof, which is important for protecting your gift wrap paper from moisture."

Luckily, the majority of gift wrap storage containers do come in plastic (like The Container Store Customized Gift Wrap Center we chose for the best bin) or reinforced fabric.

What you choose comes down to personal preference. But we do recommend leaning toward plastic storage with a lid if you're going to be keeping things in a garage, basement, or attic.

Make Moving Easier with Wheels

Before selecting the right storage solution for you, think about where your gift wrapping station will live. You want your supplies to be both protected and accessible when you need them. "Protected" means your wrapping paper won't get wrinkled or torn, and your bows and ribbon won't get squished or misshapen.

"Accessible" means your collection isn't so secure that it's a chore for you to get it all out (this is especially relevant if you access your supplies year-round for birthdays and other gift-giving occasions).

Keep in mind that gift wrap is almost universally made to be disposable. Paper is not the hardiest of materials, and a flooded basement or damp garage can easily ruin it. "Store your supplies in a cool, dry place. This will help to prevent them from fading or becoming damaged," adds Lark.

What's easier, building a gift wrap station around your storage system, or bringing out your storage system and setting it up in your ideal spot? We're fans of the latter because it gives you more flexibility.

When possible, organizers on wheels are ideal if your wrapping station and storage aren't in the same place. They're not only a breeze to move around, but also easy to bring in and out of storage.
