LSU women's basketball head coach Kim Mulkey is a walking bucket - quite literally.

On Sunday, Mulkey - ever the one to don expressive attire courtside - debuted what likely ranks as one of her most outlandish outfits. During No. 6 LSU’s matchup against Auburn, the 62-year-old was spotted wearing a basketball net around her waist.

To go with the makeshift skirt, Mulkey donned a black sweater with a backboard and basketball, as well as a red belt made to look like a basketball rim. Taking to social media, droves of viewers expressed their shock upon seeing the outfit for the first time.

“You truly never know what Kim Mulkey will be wearing when she walks out that tunnel,” one X user wrote, with another adding: “Ok I missed Kim Mulkey's outfit earlier and I am speechless.”

Not everybody was a fan of the ensemble, however. A third chimed in: “I'm not one big into fashion, but what the hell is that? I'm pretty sure if my daughter when she was 3 tried to leave the house wearing that my wife would have stopped her.”

Speaking to reporters on the heels of LSU’s 73-63 victory, Mulkey revealed that the outfit was left at her doorstep by Queen of Sparkles several days prior. “Y'all know the story. I don't shop. That was dropped off at the house maybe Friday and I wasn't even there,” she said. “They put two up and I said, ‘Oh let's do that one today.’”

As one of Queen of Sparkles’ most well known clients, Mulkey joked that she deserved to be compensated for routinely wearing the brand’s items. “They sell this stuff, Queen of Sparkles. I've told y'all I need to get an NIL deal with them,” Mulkey added. “Look at all those sparkles out there. That hasn't been that way until I got here, right? She needs to send me some of her money.”

While Mulkey is seemingly never shy to take risks with her outfits - frequently donning pink, animal print, gold and flowers at Tigers games - she asserted that there have been several articles of clothing she’s refused to wear.

“I'm 62 years old and I'm a team player,” Mulkey said. “That's how I got talked into this sparkle stuff and I said I'll do it for the team. It'll sell tickets to those fashionistas that know nothing about basketball.

"Yes, do it coach and I did it and it's worked but some of that stuff, no way. No, I won't even describe some of it because some people wear that but not this old country girl from Tickfaw.”

Addressing her latest ensemble, Mulkey said while playing with a strand of the basketball net: “I've worn basketball stuff but I don't think they've ever given me one with the net but that is pretty creative, isn't it?”
