We love the idea of a hanging bed within the garden! We can’t think of another DIY project that would be used more. Especially as the long days of summer come upon us, laying out on a comfie “swing bed” while enjoying the weather, nature and the scent and sight of our garden seems like Heaven. Oh, and a good book too! (OK, maybe a glass of wine as well…) :) Here are some great tutorials on building a hanging bed or swing bed. It’s easier than it looks, basically just requiring a sturdy overhanging support, a frame, some chain or rope…and a comfie mattress or pad and pillows! This could make a great front porch project as well.

 

 

DIY Pallet Swing Bed

This DIY pallet swing bed is inexpensive and so charming! Step by step photos and instructions make this an easy hanging bed for any porch. And we love that it reduces waste by recycling the wood. From ‘Grillo Designs‘.

 

We really like the Pallet Swing Bed over at The Merry Thought. They have a nice simple tutorial there, and tips on how to build a hanging bed that doesn’t cost a lot.

 

DIY Hanging Bed

This outdoor hanging bed DIY is from a reader over at ‘Ana White‘. The complete plans are there for you to customize to your liking. And, it cost her less than $100 to make!

 

A little more difficult is this DIY swing bed project by the folks at Home Depot. Great detailed instructions for any intermediate wood crafter ready to tackle this!

 

And another one from Ana White via’ HGTV’.  Step by step instructions for this easy outdoor hanging bed, and this one one uses a standard twin mattress and is made from simple 2×4’s.

Porch Swing Beds

‘Plank & Pillow‘ knows just how to make a porch swing bed that looks like it came right out of a Restoration Hardware catalog. This hanging bed is made from pine, and has all the instructions you need to make your porch the envy of the neighborhood!

 

‘Wood Its Real‘ shows us how to make their porch bed swing with it’s complete step by step. Made from decking lumber, this one also uses a standard twin mattress. Futon or camping mattresses can be perfect for this!

 

This DIY porch swing bed tutorial is from ‘Shade Home & Garden‘, and they have a full video tutorial walking you through this entire project. How relaxing would this outdoor hanging bed be?
